The project of the road from Bac Kan city (old) to Ba Be lake connecting to Na Hang, Tuyen Quang province, section from km0+00 – km37+00, with a total length of 37km, has a total investment of more than 3,700 billion VND. The road is planned and constructed according to the standards of a grade III mountainous road, ensuring quality and traffic capacity.

Construction started in late 2022 and the route was officially put into operation in mid-April 2025. This event marks an important milestone, contributing to shortening travel time from Bac Kan ward (old Bac Kan city) to Ba Be lake and conveniently connecting with Tuyen Quang province.

In 1995, Ba Be Lake was recognized by the World Freshwater Lake Conference, held in the United States, as one of the world's 20 special freshwater lakes that need to be protected. At the end of 2004, Ba Be National Park was recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park and is in the process of submitting to UNESCO for recognition as a world natural heritage.

In 2011, Ba Be Lake was recognized by the Ramsar Convention Secretariat as the 1,938th Ramsar site in the world and the third Ramsar site in Vietnam, affirming the international value of this site.

This new route is not only a simple traffic project but also one of the most beautiful routes in the province. Throughout the journey, visitors will admire the majestic mountain scenery, green valleys and peaceful villages nestled on the mountainside.

The road gently curves along the mountainside, opening up panoramic views of the valley and the distant mountains, creating beautiful natural paintings that captivate people's hearts. This road not only serves the travel needs of local people but also creates a great driving force for the development of tourism in the Ba Be Lake area, opening up attractive inter-route tours.

Mr. Vu Van Nam, a tourist from Phan Dinh Phung ward, Thai Nguyen province: Traveling on the new road to Ba Be lake, not only can you see the beautiful scenery of the mountains and forests, the new road is very easy to travel, there are not many curves so my children do not get carsick like on the old road. My family had a great experience this weekend.

Positive feedback from tourists is the clearest proof of the effectiveness of the new route.
