Coming to the remote commune of Dak Phoi ( Dak Lak province), we clearly felt the "transformation" of the land that was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State. From the commune center to the village, the asphalt concrete has been re-paved. On both sides of the road are majestic houses built in modern architecture. Among them are the homes of ethnic minority households that have just escaped poverty.
Located at 2 frontages, the well-built house of Ms. H'Pong Bkrong's family (Ji Juk hamlet, Dak Phoi commune) stands out even more. Ms. H'Pong's family has 4 sao of coffee and many children of school age, so life is difficult. For many years, her family has been classified as poor.

Determined to escape poverty, H'Pong and her husband worked many jobs. With preferential loans from the government, they invested in a coffee garden. In 2023, her family was given another cow to develop production. Thanks to the above support policies and hard work, by the end of 2024, H'Pong's family escaped the commune's list of poor households. "This house was built in 4 years. We worked as hard as we had money, and it was only last year that we completed the house," H'Pong shared.
In a 114m² ground-floor house, Mr. Y Tang Du (Lieng Ke hamlet, Dak Phoi commune) shared that his dream of many years has come true. His family has 3 sao of rice and 1.2 hectares of fields, but the land is barren and flooded during the rainy season, making farming difficult.
Mr. Y Tang has 3 children, a sick wife and an elderly mother who needs care. To cover family expenses, Mr. Y Tang works as a construction worker. With the loan capital for poor households, he boldly invested in agricultural production. Thanks to the high price of coffee, his family's income improved. In 2023, he borrowed 70 million VND to complete his dream house. By 2024, his family officially escaped poverty.

Mr. Y Tang confided that thanks to preferential loans, he boldly invested in production. He did not dare to borrow money from outside because of high interest rates and the risk of having to mortgage assets. From his experience, Mr. Y Tang affirmed that to escape poverty, one must be determined, make efforts, be diligent and hard-working. At the same time, the poor need support from the State through preferential loan policies. Combining these two factors, people will have the opportunity to escape poverty sooner.
Mr. Hoang Thanh Be - Vice Chairman of Dak Phoi Commune People's Committee, said: The whole commune has 3,299 households with over 15,400 people. Of which, ethnic minorities account for 75%, mainly M'nong and Ede people. The land and soil of the locality are suitable for agricultural development, but due to limitations in applying science to production, the poverty rate is still high. In the 2 years of 2022-2023, the local government will synchronously implement policies, especially the national target program (including the sustainable poverty reduction program) to support people in economic development.
“Thanks to the drastic implementation of the entire political system, synchronous and focused investment, and selection of models suitable for people in livestock and farming, the State's initial support programs have been effective. On that basis, many households have developed their economies and escaped poverty,” emphasized the Vice Chairman of the Dak Phoi Commune People's Committee.
