From effective models

From being a completely new idea, the turtle farming model of Mr. Luong Duc Hoa in Lung Cooc village, Quan Ha commune (Bach Thong) has now brought about clear economic efficiency, thanks to timely support from the Farmer Support Fund.

In 2022, Mr. Hoa was one of three farmer members in Quan Ha commune who accessed capital from the Bach Thong District Farmers' Association Fund. The loan amount of 50 million VND (loan period of 36 months) was not large, but it helped households invest in building solid ponds, food costs, and improving techniques. Not stopping at individual farming, households have come together to establish a professional group for raising soft-shell turtles to share experiences, support each other in techniques and product output.

In Yen Cu commune (Cho Moi), 12 households growing star anise have borrowed 600 million VND from the Farmers Support Fund to invest in improving the economic efficiency of star anise - a local strength. Through the implementation process, the project has expanded 30 hectares of star anise, helping to increase income for participating households each year.

As one of the households participating in the star anise planting project, Mr. Ha Van Quynh, Na Hin village said: Thanks to the loan and timely technical guidance, we boldly established a cooperative group, which later developed into the Quynh Duong Production and Service Cooperative. Currently, the cooperative has 18 hectares of star anise, of which 10 hectares have produced stable fruit. Timely access to capital has helped us expand production and significantly increase income.

The bamboo rat breeding model in Yen Phong commune (Cho Don) is also proving effective thanks to access to loans. Capital from the Central Government supports the implementation of the bamboo rat breeding project. Capital from the District Farmers' Support Fund has provided additional support to 5 households, with a loan of 20 million VND/household to expand the model. All members who borrowed money have repaid on time, affirming the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.

Small “push” – big effect

Farmers’ economic models are gradually showing their effectiveness and sustainability, with the contribution of the Farmers’ Support Fund. This is clear evidence that when farmers are supported at the right time, they can completely master new models and create stable income from their homeland.

Mr. Ha Van Man, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Quan Ha Commune (Bach Thong) said: "Although the capital is small, it is a stepping stone to help members boldly develop economic models. The loan evaluation is carried out carefully, giving priority to households with a sense of responsibility and qualified to use and promote the effectiveness of the loan capital."

The effectiveness of the Fund comes not only from money but also from the approach: the Farmers' Association surveys actual needs, prioritizes responsible households, organizes training to transfer techniques, and supervises the proper use of capital. Professional groups and farmers' cooperatives are formed, creating a foundation for production according to the value chain. In 2024, through projects, the Farmers' Support Fund established 09 cooperative groups and 04 professional Farmers' Association groups.

The models and projects borrowing capital from the Farmers Support Fund all closely follow the advantages of each locality, making good use of the potential of land and rural labor. This capital source is becoming a "lever" to help members expand production, increase income, create jobs and stabilize the rural economy. Not only supporting economic development, the Fund also contributes to connecting farmers with the Association, acting as the core to promote the movement of good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably./.
