Wild and amazing destination
In the middle of the old forest, Mo waterfall in Hoa Hop commune, now Kim Dien commune, has a pristine beauty, a blend of water, rocks and forest. The higher you go, the more beautiful Mo waterfall becomes with large rocks protruding from the waterfall. The main waterfall of Mo waterfall creates a large lake of about 500m2 and becomes a natural swimming pool for tourists and locals. Not only does it have a pristine beauty, but according to legend, Mo waterfall also contains a rather mysterious story related to the patriotic king Ham Nghi.
Going south along the western branch of Ho Chi Minh trail, under the canopy of the primeval forest in Truong Son commune, there are many systems of streams and caves that are very favorable for developing ecotourism . Typical are Cha Rao and Cha Cung streams and beautiful caves in the upper reaches of Long Dai river.
While Cha Rao is located right on the road from the commune center leading to Cay Ca village, to get to Cha Cung beach and waterfall, visitors have to walk along the stream for a few hundred meters under the tree canopy.
At Cha Cung stream, the water is blocked by rock ledges, creating white foam waterfalls. There are also flat natural rock spillways, through which the water flows gently. Coming here, visitors can feel the fresh air of the mountains and forests, see moss-covered reefs under the clear water; can bathe in natural lakes, or slide gently on rocks.

Not far away, tourist attractions such as Duong Cam waterfall, Kim Thuy commune, now Kim Ngan commune; Nuoc Lanh stream in Truong Xuan, now Truong Son commune are also places attracting young tourists to experience and explore .
In the middle of the Truong Son mountain range, these streams and waterfalls are like vivid paintings with fresh air, fresh air and clear water flowing through the rocks, weaving through the wild nature. Walking, swimming, crossing waterfalls, camping... in this space, you will feel the peace and freshness of wild nature with its enchanting beauty.
In the 2025 tourist season, besides cave exploration tours and coastal resort tours, many tourists coming to Quang Binh province (old) have a rather strange choice, which is to find beautiful streams to experience.
During these hot summers, the service capacity of these tourist attractions is mobilized to the maximum but still cannot meet all the needs of tourists and locals who love nature and exploration.
In addition to enjoying the poetic natural scenery, these streams and creeks are also suitable destinations for those who love outdoor activities. Visitors can paddle SUP, kayak or simply immerse themselves in the cool water to feel relaxed. In addition, you can also fish in the peaceful scenery or participate in exciting water sports.
If you love exploring, a trekking journey through the primeval forest with an ethnic minority guide will take you to wild, mysterious corners deep in the jungle that you may have never set foot on.
Tourists enjoy SUP paddling on Cold Water Stream.
However, most of these destinations are still in potential form, newly exploited in a trial form, so they have not received proper infrastructure investment, do not have specific tourism products and especially lack of chain connection with other famous tourist destinations in the province.
According to Deputy Director of Quang Tri Province Department of Tourism Dang Dong Ha, many places in the west of Quang Binh Province (old) have great potential for eco-tourism resources, which are places that young people in and outside the province really want to explore. However, the difficulty in these areas is that they are special-use forests and protective forests, so it is not possible or very difficult to carry out related procedures to invest in infrastructure to exploit tourism potential or open tours and routes.
Quang Binh Province (old) has allowed businesses to invest in exploiting or piloting some tourism products on streams, waterfalls, ravines... combining community tourism, exploring, experiencing the life of ethnic minorities. Initial results show that this new product is quite attractive to tourists, however, some details need to be further adjusted to improve and serve tourists better.
The streams and creeks in the Central region in general, and Quang Binh (old) in particular, are very beautiful, wild and full of mysteries in the summer, inviting exploration, but in the rainy season they are very fierce. The rapid flood water has washed away many infrastructure works of tourist areas.
Khe Nuoc Lanh Tourist Area is considered a unique, environmentally friendly project when using a wooden bridge system along the stream to not affect the environment and landscape, but the big flood in October 2024 washed everything away. The investor of Dang Dai Ngon Tourist Area once regretfully invested tens of billions of VND in this unique project, but after just one flood, he became empty-handed. Mr. Ngon shared that heavy rain and floods are an obstacle for investors when exploiting the potential of streams and waterfalls in the west of Quang Tri today.
Not only Khe Nuoc Lanh Tourist Area but also almost all infrastructure works serving tourism on streams, creeks, and waterfalls in Quang Binh (old) are damaged and suffered due to the impact of natural disasters every year. After each rainy and flood season, tour operators and routes have to repair infrastructure such as boat docks, wooden bridges, equipment, etc.

To develop this type of ecotourism sustainably, according to experts, Quang Tri province currently needs to survey and classify streams and waterfalls according to their attractiveness and accessibility, thereby prioritizing development in the direction of ecotourism, combined with environmental education. Along with that, it is necessary to invest in infrastructure at an acceptable level and use environmentally friendly materials, absolutely not encroaching on the landscape during the construction process.
It is also important to build closed tours connecting the exploration of streams, waterfalls with visiting caves, visiting villages and experiencing the culture of the Bru-Van Kieu people. In addition, it is necessary to apply technology in promoting and locating new destinations through media, digital maps, social networks... to spread the image of Quang Binh's nature (old) in a modern way, close to young people.
Despite the difficulties, for many young tourists, the beautiful streams and waterfalls in Quang Binh (old) are truly an indispensable destination when they want to find a peaceful space, immerse themselves in nature and challenge themselves with interesting activities.
