Faced with the rapid growth of the Indian tourism market, many Asian destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka have exempted visas for Indians to take advantage of this source of visitors, and the Philippines is the latest country to adopt a similar strategy.

Mr. Aditya Tyagi - founder of travel company Luxe Escape said that the relaxation of visa procedures will help destinations increase their appeal to Indian tourists: "The increase in outbound travel by Indians to Asia - Pacific is largely due to the relaxation of visa procedures here. For example, countries that have recently adopted this policy such as the Philippines have seen a 25 - 30% increase in Indian tourists after announcing visa exemptions. In addition, Indian tourists are increasingly looking for rich cultural experiences, adventure activities, cuisine and even sporting events in the Asia - Pacific region."

According to the Mastercard Economic Institute’s Travel Trends 2025 Report, Indian travelers are exploring a wider range of destinations. Thanks to the rise of the middle class and new direct flights, destinations such as Hanoi, Bali and Abu Dhabi have become top choices for Indian travelers.

After 8 months of 2025, India has become the 7th largest source of international visitors to Vietnam tourism, with over 443,000 arrivals, reaching 142.2% over the same period last year. Mr. Sunil Kumar - President of the Association of Travel Agents of India commented: "With the improvement of direct flights between India and Vietnam, we see increasing interest from both the leisure and MICE tourism segments for this destination. Recently, new direct flights connecting Hyderabad and Bengaluru with Ho Chi Minh City have been added, which will boost the number of visitors between the two countries".

Australia is also a popular destination for Indian tourists, after the country simplified its online visa application process. “The simplified online visa application process has given Indian tourists more confidence in planning their trip to Australia, and we have seen a marked increase in numbers,” said Prateek Wadhwa, director of Dreamtrip4U. “Adventure, in particular, is a big draw; nearly 40% of our Indian customers are specifically looking for thrilling experiences… The Great Barrier Reef and Cairns have become popular with Indian tourists for scuba diving and snorkeling.”

The growth of Indian tourists has prompted many Indian travel companies to open offices abroad to meet demand and ensure the quality of services provided. Sriharan Balan, CEO of Madura Travel Service (India), said the company is planning to open an office in Sydney (Australia): “We are recruiting Tamil-speaking drivers and guides to serve our customers. We have student groups visiting Australia in November and January, while destinations such as Tasmania, Cairns and Canberra are also increasing in popularity.”
