Morning of September 16 in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper held the award ceremony for the first season of the Ho Chi Minh City New Colors photography contest for the winning authors.

Commenting on the contest, journalist Nguyen Thai Binh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper, Head of the contest's organizing committee said: " New Colors of Ho Chi Minh City is not only an artistic playground but also a place to preserve and spread precious moments of a Ho Chi Minh City that is changing every day. We highly appreciate the creativity and efforts of the authors, from professional photographers to photography enthusiasts, amateur photographers who have contributed to telling a vivid urban story, with many fresh and attractive colors".

According to the organizers, as of August 15, 2025, the contest had received a total of 699 entries. Through two rounds of online judging, the jury selected 75 entries to directly judge and selected 50 entries for the final round and displayed in the exhibition at the award ceremony.

Journalist Huynh Truong Giang, a member of the jury, commented: "Many works are extremely excellent, capturing moments and creative perspectives on the city's development...".
Photographer - director Nguyen Tuan Khoi highly appreciated the works for overcoming visual stereotypes, many photos demonstrate good technique while still maintaining storytelling elements, evoking emotions instead of just recording events.
Photographer Nguyen A could not hide his pride in his young colleagues. "What impressed me was the clear shift in the photographic thinking of many young authors. Many works show the ability to convey profound messages about society, people and urban life through very delicate compositions and moments," photographer Nguyen A said.
The work "Strengthening" won first prize.
The happy day of national reunification by author Huynh Pham Anh Dung won second prize.

Given the exceptional quality of the works, this year's award structure has been adjusted to include a second prize, in order to properly recognize the creativity and meticulous investment of the authors.
On this occasion, at the editorial office (Hoang Viet building, 34 Hoang Viet, Tan Son Nhat Ward), Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper opened the photo exhibition " New Colors of Ho Chi Minh City" , introducing to the public 50 finalist works.

1 first prize of 30,000,000 VND belongs to author Nguyen Tien Anh Tuan with the work "Strengthening" ;
2 second prizes (each prize is 15,000,000 VND) were awarded to authors Huynh Pham Anh Dung ( Happy Day of National Reunification) and Nguyen Minh Tan ( Vung Tau - Ho Chi Minh City's long arm reaching out to the ocean );
2 third prizes (7,000,000 VND each): Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang ( Seeing the festival ), Duong Cong Son ( Joy of Independence Day );
3 most popular prizes through social networks (each prize is 3,000,000 VND): Do Trong Danh ( City in the era of tourism integration ), Nguyen Hue ( Beautiful city under the shadow of the Party flag, the national flag ) and Nguyen Quang ( Ho Chi Minh City - where dreams come true ).
The Organizing Committee also awarded 3 consolation prizes (each prize worth 3,000,000 VND) to the authors and works: Cao Thi Thanh Ha ( Intersection between the above-ground and underground roads ), Tong Tran Son ( City Night ), Nguyen Hoang ( Smile of determination ), Nguyen Van Tuan ( Celebrating Uncle Ho's birthday ), Vo Van Hoang ( Welcoming the parade ); Top 50 works entered the final round with a prize of 500,000 VND/work.
