The match between U23 Indonesia and U23 Vietnam has VAR

On July 28, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) officially announced the use of VAR technology in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship between U23 Indonesia and U23 Vietnam.

In the announcement, AFF said that the use of VAR aims to ensure the highest quality of refereeing and promote the spirit of fair competition.

The application of this referee support technology is expected to help increase accuracy in important situations, while ensuring transparency and fairness in the championship match.

The final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia is scheduled to take place at 8:00 p.m. on July 29, 2025 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta.

This is the third consecutive time that U23 Vietnam has participated in the final match of the tournament, after winning the championship twice in 2022 and 2023.

The first use of VAR in a match at the U23 level in Southeast Asia marks a significant step forward in the management and organization of the tournament by AFF.
