Russian President Putin prepares to visit Türkiye in late August

Russian President Putin and his Turkish counterpart Erdogan are expected to hold talks on issues related to the timing of the resumption of the Grain Agreement, bilateral relations, and the settlement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Turkish newspaper Hurriyet quoted sources on August 7 saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Türkiye in the last week of August.

During the visit, Mr. Putin will meet his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan .

The agenda of the talks will include issues related to the timing of the resumption of the Grain Agreement, bilateral relations, relations between Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as measures to normalize relations between Turkey and Syria.

Some Russian experts noted that the resumption of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine will also be discussed at the meeting.

According to a source from the Turkish Presidential Office, Mr. Erdogan will announce a proposal to resume peace talks on Ukraine during discussions with President Putin, and the Turkish side will offer to act as a mediator in resolving the conflict.

During a phone call on August 2, President Putin and his counterpart Erdogan agreed to expedite preparations for a meeting between the two leaders.

Speaking to the press on August 4, President Erdogan said that Mr. Putin is likely to visit Turkey and the time of the visit will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels of the two countries./.
