Lighting up love for the Fatherland through meaningful projects

The inter-village road of Phu Duc, Hoa Phu commune ( Hanoi ) these days is wearing a new coat of brilliant red. Hundreds of Party flags and national flags flutter in the wind, stretching along both sides of the road, creating a solemn and proud scene. This is the youth project "National Flag Road" jointly implemented by the Youth Union of Hoa Phu commune and the Youth Union of Phu Duc village to celebrate the major holidays of the capital and the country.

“Each flag hung carries respect and gratitude for the heroic history of the nation. This idea of our Youth Union is not only to beautify the landscape but also to arouse national pride and strengthen the love of homeland in each citizen”, Vice President of the Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hoa Phu commune Le Thi My shared.

Standing on the road flooded with red, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lan, 65 years old, could not hide her emotion. Mrs. Lan recalled: “This image reminds us of the atmosphere of the old days, when the whole village hung flags and cleaned the streets together on every big holiday. That meaningful tradition is still preserved and promoted by generations of young people. Everyone in the village is excited.”

On another street corner of the capital, in Cua Nam ward, another youth project has just been launched with a meaningful name: “Independence Road”. This project is not only a welcome to the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Cua Nam ward for the 2025-2030 term, but also a vivid symbol of the patriotism of the young generation.

With enthusiastic hearts, young people together cleaned up, cleaned the environment, hung flags and propaganda billboards. With creative hands and minds, each street corner was cleaned and decorated, creating a green, clean, and beautiful appearance for the whole area. This project is not simply a volunteer activity, it is also a way for Cua Nam youth to show their initiative and creativity in building a civilized urban lifestyle, and above all, to foster love for their homeland and country.

While the two above projects are imbued with traditional spirit, in Thanh Tri commune, the youth show their creativity through the application of modern technology. To welcome the Congress of the Fatherland Front and political organizations at all levels, the commune Youth Union has launched the "Vietnamese - English Bilingual Digital Youth Project".

Standing Vice President of the Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Thanh Tri Commune Youth Union Hoang Minh Hang, said: “We have installed information signs with QR codes at the Public Administration Center, Village Cultural House, schools... Just by scanning the code, users can access a huge database of local history and heroic stories of the nation”. What is special is that all content is compiled in Vietnamese and English, both serving international tourists and becoming a lively foreign language learning channel for young people.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - a resident of Thanh Tri commune - this method is very convenient: "Instead of spending time looking up, now I just need to scan the QR code to see the full content, and it is also bilingual, very useful for students to both study history and practice foreign languages".

Nguyen Thu Ha, a 5th grade student at Yen My Primary School, who directly experienced the project, could not hide her excitement: "Thanks to the QR code, I learned many interesting historical stories and learned more English words to tell my classmates."

Each project has a different approach but all aim at a common goal: Arousing national pride and spreading love for the Fatherland to the community. Notably, the harmonious connection between tradition and modernity in the way the younger generation works. They both preserve good traditional values and are creative to convey the message more effectively.

When technology becomes a bridge of patriotism

The flame of patriotism of young people not only lights up in major events, but also burns fiercely in the national digital transformation, bringing technology closer to every citizen.

The pioneering spirit is clearly demonstrated through the support of the two-level local government model, where 126 youth volunteer teams have become "community digital engineers" with the motto: "Understanding the area - Solid technology - Dedicated support - Effective dissemination". They bring technological knowledge to every home, every street, guiding people to use online public services, VNeID accounts and digital citizen applications.

To continue promoting this activity, the Hanoi Youth Union has implemented Directive No. 11/CT-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee on the campaign "45 days and nights of launching to support digital transformation activities in communes and wards in the initial phase of operating the 2-level local government model".

To carry out the campaign, the Youth Union of O Cho Dua Ward sent many members and young people to be on duty at the public administrative service points of the ward. The young people enthusiastically supported people in using online public services, using VNeID, declaring and submitting documents.

Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of O Cho Dua Ward Pham Phuong Chi said: "For more than 30 days, the ward's youth union members have been on duty at the ward's "one-stop" department and have been active in residential areas. We prioritize helping the elderly, the disabled and those who have difficulty accessing technology."

This activity has received many positive responses from the people. Ms. Vu Thi Dinh (Group 39, O Cho Dua Ward) shared: "I have tried to do the procedure online many times but encountered difficulties because I am not familiar with using smartphones. Luckily, the young people supported and guided me enthusiastically, I completed the procedure very quickly. I believe that with such talented and responsible young people, our ward will develop more and more and become more civilized".

According to Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union Tran Quang Hung, the role of volunteers does not stop at supporting events, but also contributes to building a beautiful image of a generation of dynamic, responsible, and dedicated young people in the capital: "The initial results have also affirmed the pioneering role of youth in building a modern administration, close to the people, for the people".

Patriotism is also demonstrated through the dedication of Phung Quang Trung, a young man born in 1997, a typical young Vietnamese face in 2024. As the leader of Skyline, Trung has turned patriotism into concrete actions. He and his teammates have also revived hundreds of blurred, time-worn photos of martyrs into vivid portraits.

Phung Quang Trung shared: "Every time I complete a photo, I feel like I've helped someone return home, so that their loved ones can recognize them, remember them, and burn incense in their hearts."

Phung Quang Trung's love for the Fatherland does not stop at one story. It urges him and his teammates to seek out red addresses across the country. Trung uses his professional technological skills of the 4.0 era to build a solid bridge so that today's and future generations can understand, love and continue that sacred flame.

Not only that, the combination of technology and patriotism has helped the youth of the capital "digitize" red addresses. The project "Digital map of red addresses of the youth of the capital", deployed from 2023, is a project to digitize information about historical revolutionary sites in Hanoi.

This youth project aims to promote and develop the value of cultural heritage and revolutionary history through the construction of a digital map. Young people have digitized historical relics into a living treasure trove of knowledge, helping the younger generation easily access and be more proud of the nation's glorious past.

It can be affirmed that the patriotism of today's young generation is not a distant concept or just a slogan. Looking at the dedicated actions, the silent contributions from community activities to creative works, we see that the young generation is continuing to write the heroic history of the nation, joining hands to build a modern, strong, and unique Vietnam in the new era.
