General Secretary: Approach and master new technology in manufacturing weapons and military equipment

On the morning of September 15, in Hanoi, the General Department of Defense Industry ( Ministry of National Defense ) solemnly held the Ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025) and receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (for the second time).

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam stated that over 80 years of construction, fighting and growth, the cadres, soldiers, professional soldiers, civil servants and defense workers of the former Military Industry sector and the General Department of Defense Industry today have clearly demonstrated steadfast political will, absolute loyalty to the Party's revolutionary cause, the spirit of overcoming difficulties, self-reliance, diligence, intelligence, creativity, and close solidarity with the people.

“Comrades are the embodiment of the leading birds of the fighting army, the working army, the production labor army. Your silent contributions and sacrifices have contributed significantly to beautifying the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army (VPA),” the General Secretary emphasized.

The General Secretary said that in order to fulfill the goals of building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern Vietnam People's Army, the Party and State pay special attention to building and developing the defense industry; all levels and sectors pay great attention, create favorable conditions, and devote many resources to investing in the development of the defense industry to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

In the coming time, the General Secretary requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to focus on leading and directing the General Department of Defense Industry to regularly grasp, seriously and effectively implement the policies and directions of the Party, State and Army on the development of the Defense Industry, closely combining defense with economy, economy with defense; continue to perfect the institutions, laws, and organization of the Defense Industry; improve the quality of strategic advice; proactively forecast and evaluate the development trends of military science in the world to promptly research and develop weapons and technical equipment of strategic significance for the Army to perform the task of protecting the Fatherland in all situations.

Central ministries and branches need to pay special attention to, create mechanisms and favorable conditions for the Army to carry out tasks of promoting the development of the defense industry in a proactive, self-reliant, dual-purpose, modern, closely-connected direction and become the spearhead of the national industry.

The General Secretary requested to promote the effective application of scientific and technological achievements, innovation and digital transformation in the research, design, manufacture, production, repair and modernization of weapons and technical equipment; focus on implementing key tasks and projects of a breakthrough and spearhead nature to approach and master new technologies in manufacturing weapons and equipment for military services, branches and forces to move straight to modernity; prioritize mastering basic technologies, core technologies, developing semiconductor chip industry, advanced materials, and specialized materials for research, design, manufacture, production and repair of modern weapons, equipment and equipment of strategic significance.

The General Secretary clearly stated the requirement to build the political mettle of the cadres and workers of the National Defense Industry, to be absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation; to regularly care for, nurture and train scientific cadres for the National Defense Industry; to build a team of leading technical cadres and scientists capable of mastering high-tech science and technology to research, design and manufacture modern weapons of strategic significance, with great deterrence against all invading enemies; to combine the task of developing the National Defense Industry in the national industrial development strategy; to promote international cooperation.
