Prime Minister: Hope there will be a Vietnamese person winning the Nobel Prize in the future

The Prime Minister suggested that Uppsala University create conditions for Vietnamese students and postgraduates to study and research with the expectation of becoming great scientists who can receive the Nobel Prize.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, within the framework of his official visit to Sweden, on the afternoon of June 13 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked at Uppsala University - the most prestigious, long-standing and reputable university not only in Sweden, but also in the world .

With a tradition of more than 500 years, Uppsala University is the oldest university in Scandinavia. Currently, Uppsala University is one of the most prestigious universities in Sweden, ranked in the top 100 universities in the world according to many prestigious rankings, and is the cradle of many Nobel Prize-winning scientists and influential politicians .

Uppsala University has established cooperative relations with Hanoi National University, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology; participated in a number of cooperative research projects to enhance capacity for Vietnam, provided doctoral scholarships for Vietnam...

Among the current team of researchers and lecturers at Uppsala University is Professor Joakim Palme, a close friend of Vietnam, a prestigious scientist in the field of social policy, who is an important bridge to help enhance understanding and academic cooperation between Vietnam and Sweden.

The school's research team also includes Vietnamese intellectuals, such as Professor Nguyen Minh Hung - a leading expert in the field of microsystem technology and chemical sensors.

Visiting the school, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a talk with the Board of Directors and outstanding researchers of Uppsala University; as well as talked with members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Secretary of the Swedish Nobel Committee about this prestigious award.

Expressing his admiration for the history, international stature and outstanding quality of Uppsala University, a model worthy of reference for Vietnamese higher education institutions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sincerely thanked Uppsala University for its valuable contributions to Vietnam’s education, science and sustainable development; saying that cooperation programs such as student exchanges, doctoral training, and research projects not only help improve the professional capacity of Vietnamese educational institutions, but also promote the role of a bridge, fostering friendship and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.

Based on the good cooperative relationship between the two countries, the Prime Minister suggested that Uppsala University establish a sister university relationship with a national university of Vietnam, promote cooperation in training, research, academic exchange with educational and research institutions and grant scholarships to Vietnamese students and postgraduates; contributing to promoting the strategic partnership in the field of science, technology and innovation between the two countries that was recently established during the visit.

The Prime Minister hopes that Vietnamese students and researchers will continue to promote the traditional values ​​of Vietnamese culture and people, which are always striving, being creative, having big dreams, far-reaching ambitions, trying to study and research well, while improving their understanding of local laws and culture, and practicing skills so that they can work well in Sweden or Vietnam in the future.

The Prime Minister asked the school to continue to help and create conditions for Vietnamese students and postgraduates to study and research with the expectation of becoming great scientists who can receive the Nobel Prize in the coming decades in the spirit of “looking far and wide, thinking deeply and doing great things,” contributing to further enhancing the good friendship between the two countries.

Talking with Professor Ulf Danielsson, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Secretary of the Swedish Nobel Committee, the Prime Minister sincerely thanked the Professor for his advice so that Vietnamese people can win the Nobel Prize in the future.

Inviting the Professor to visit Vietnam for a more in-depth and specific exchange, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam is developing its education system in a direction approaching the modern education system of Sweden; at the same time, it is creating motivation, inspiration, and conditions for scientists to be passionate about research and contribute with the spirit of discovery, science has no borders, no limits.

This is the final activity of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his official visit to Sweden; also the final activity during his working trip to attend the 3rd United Nations Ocean Summit (UNOC 3) in France; conduct the Prime Minister's bilateral activities in the Republic of France, and official visits to the Republic of Estonia and the Kingdom of Sweden.

On the afternoon of June 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left Stockholm for Hanoi, successfully concluding their working trip./.
