– After Tet, peach garden owners in the province are busy collecting and taking care of ornamental peach trees.
Peach garden owner in Lang Son city takes care of peach trees after Tet
The whole province currently has 470 hectares of peach trees with popular varieties such as: peach blossom, peach blossom, peach blossom... Peach trees are grown in most districts and cities, concentrated in Lang Son city and districts: Bac Son, Huu Lung, Van Quan...
In recent years, some families, units and businesses have come to peach gardens to rent peach trees to display during the Lunar New Year. After Tet, these peach trees are returned to the garden owners for care. Mr. Tran Van Nhiem, Dai Thang block, Chi Lang ward, Lang Son city said: My family currently has over 600 seven-inch peach trees. For this peach variety, the older the tree, the greater its value. Therefore, instead of buying the tree outright, many families and businesses choose to rent trees to enjoy during the Lunar New Year. During the recent Giap Thin Tet, in addition to selling trees, my family also rented about 100 seven-inch peach trees. The main customers are people in the province and some provinces and cities such as Quang Ninh, Hanoi ... The rental price for trees ranges from 700,000 VND to 5,000,000 VND/tree depending on the size, smallness and shape of the peach. My family is currently collecting, plucking flowers, pruning and preparing the soil to replant peach trees. Before the full moon of January, the family will collect all the trees to restore and care for them to serve the Tet market next year.
In addition to renting trees, some families and units choose to buy peach trees to play during Tet. After Tet, the peach trees are sent back to the garden to be cared for at a certain cost. Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung, Hung Loc commune, Vinh city, Nghe An province said: My family has a peach tree that is many years old. I do not have the care techniques, and the local climate is not suitable, so the tree has yellow leaves and does not bloom on time for Tet. Therefore, for many years now, my family has moved the tree to a garden in Lang Son city for care. Thanks to that, the peach tree has beautiful flowers, blooming on time for Tet.
After Tet, households and peach growing cooperatives in the province are busy with the work of restoring and caring for peach trees. This work not only helps to preserve the beauty of peach trees for the new season but also helps to increase income for garden owners.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh, Hong Phong 1 village, Chien Thang commune, Bac Son district said: After Tet, due to lack of land and lack of technical knowledge, many families and businesses have come to the garden to send peach trees for care. Depending on the needs of customers, the family will set aside a part of the garden land to plant and care for these peach trees. After the trees are transported, I will proceed to pluck flowers, prune branches, create canopy... Depending on the growth and damage to the root system, each peach tree will have different care methods. The cost of caring for peach trees usually ranges from 500,000 VND to 5,000,000 VND depending on the tree. Up to now, my family has taken care of more than 50 peach trees of all kinds.
Peach trees are a highly profitable crop. In addition to restoring and caring for old peach trees, many garden owners are now applying science and technology to cultivate seedlings and plant new batches of trees.
Ms. Phung Thi Kim Khanh, Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Plant Cultivation and Preservation, said: In order for peach growers to grasp the technical process, the department regularly coordinates with relevant levels and sectors to organize training sessions for people. In addition, the department advises the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to issue the Technical Process for planting and caring for ornamental peach trees in the province. Accordingly, the work of collecting peach roots after Tet is usually carried out by gardeners starting from the 10th of January and ending about 20 days later. The peach roots transported to the garden must first be kept fresh by keeping them in the shade, cutting off branches and leaves, watering, and after a few days, lowering them into the ground, planting pots, etc. This will help the trees quickly take root and grow well.
With the experience of garden owners, the peach trees will be cared for with the right techniques, promising to bloom in time for the next Tet holiday. Thereby, contributing to beautifying the space of each family every time Tet comes, spring comes.
