Lao theoretical magazine explores the process of creating multi-platform journalistic content in the digital age

On September 9, a delegation from Alunmay Magazine (Laos) led by Editor-in-Chief Vanlaty Khamvanvongsa visited and worked at VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper (Vietnam News Agency) to learn about the operating mechanism, multimedia production process, and experience in digital transformation of the editorial office.

Also attending the meeting were Ms. Tran Thi Thang, Head of the Editorial Secretariat and External Relations Department (Vietnam News Agency); Mr. Le Hai, Member of the Editorial Board, Head of the Electronic Communist Magazine.

Delighted to welcome colleagues from Laos, Editor-in-Chief of VietnamPlus E-newspaper Tran Tien Duan said that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam was founded by President Ho Chi Minh , President Kaysone Phomvihane, President Souphanouvong and revolutionary predecessors of the two countries, and has been inherited by generations to this day, becoming a relationship that is hard to find in the history of international relations.

Mr. Tran Tien Duan briefly introduced the proud history of Vietnam News Agency as the official source of information for the Party and State, with the task of providing information, documents, and reports to Party and State leaders, playing the role of the main information flow, refuting false information.

“As an information unit of Vietnam News Agency, VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper constantly innovates and applies technology to press production,” said Mr. Tran Tien Duan.

Informing Lao journalists, Mr. Tran Tien Duan said that since its establishment, VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper has approached the digital transformation trend through the deployment of a modern CMS system, creating new press products based on technology platforms, and proactively expanding relations with domestic and foreign technology partners.

According to Editor-in-Chief Tran Tien Duan, VietnamPlus develops according to the principle of promoting the core values of information, the authenticity of Vietnam News Agency, and protecting the creative copyright of authors and units. At the same time, it strives to become a newspaper that integrates many types of information, is a pioneer in applying new technologies to the electronic information production process, and meets the increasing demands of readers.

“After 17 years of operation, in addition to maintaining our current position, we continue to focus on developing VietnamPlus into a strong national foreign affairs electronic newspaper, an official information channel on the foreign policies of the Party and State,” Editor-in-Chief Tran Tien Duan affirmed.

Representatives of the information departments of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper also shared about the multimedia journalism products being deployed by the editorial office.

Also attending the meeting, Mr. Le Hai, member of the Editorial Board, Head of the Electronic Communist Magazine, said that Alunmay Magazine is a theoretical and practical agency of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, with the mission of researching, summarizing, and disseminating theories and practices in building the Lao Party and country.

Alunmay Magazine has close relations with the Communist Magazine of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam . Over the years, the Communist Magazine has sent experts to exchange experiences and expertise with Alunmay Magazine.

“In the current development conditions, Alunmay Magazine is very interested in digital transformation but the progress is not as expected. I believe that the digital transformation experience of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper will be helpful for Alunmay Magazine,” said Mr. Le Hai.

Speaking at the meeting, Editor-in-Chief Vanlaty Khamvanvongsa said that Alunmay Magazine has the task of propagating the Party's political theory issues, and is also an official and prestigious information channel on domestic, regional and international political theory, serving the research and study of leaders, cadres and Party members from the Central to local levels of Laos.

Currently, the Lao government is actively promoting administrative reforms, including merging a number of ministries to streamline the apparatus and improve operational efficiency. Given the requirements of the new situation, Alunmay Magazine needs to accelerate the digital transformation process.

“Vietnam News Agency is a press agency that develops strongly in technology and VietnamPlus E-newspaper is a pioneer in the digital transformation process, with many creative press products. From the experiences of VietnamPlus E-newspaper, we will study and apply appropriately in the operation of the magazine,” said Mr. Vanlaty Khamvanvongsa./.
