BYD Group's luxury car brand Yangwang will officially introduce the U8L Dingshi Edition luxury SUV on September 12. Previously, from July 31, this car model was opened for pre-sale with a price of 1.3 million yuan (equivalent to about 4.8 billion VND). Dingshi in Chinese means prosperity and noble status. The exterior design language also reflects this spirit. The front of the car is highlighted by the “Ding” (鼎) character outline, created from 99 diamond-shaped LED crystals on each side.
The luxurious highlight is the three 24K pure gold badges depicting the word “electric”, reminiscent of BYD’s electrification technology. The U8L has massive dimensions with Length x Width x Height of 5,400 x 2,049 x 1,921 (mm), and a wheelbase of 3,250mm. The exterior of the BYD Yangwang U8L is finished with a black front bumper, body-colored side skirts, minimalist wheel arches, hidden taillights, and 23-inch eight-spoke alloy wheels. The car also has an electric tailgate and floating wheel covers. The cabin is up to 5.3m³ wide, with 6 seats arranged in a 2+2+2 style. The front seats have 14-point massage, temperature-sensing armrests, and dual headrest audio. The rear seats are business class, with 18-point massage, integrated dining table, and three flexible reclining modes. The third row of seats and the center armrest are heated and electrically adjustable.
The car is equipped with a 23.6-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, a 12.8-inch central infotainment screen and another 23.6-inch screen for the front passengers. Both the first and second rows of seats are equipped with heating, ventilation and massage functions, along with heated armrests for added comfort. Yangwang U8L is equipped with a 2.0 turbocharged gasoline engine combined with a system of 4 electric motors, for a total capacity of 1,180 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,280Nm. The car can travel a total combined distance of up to 1,160km. Due to its size and massive equipment, the U8L has an unladen weight of 3,595kg and a total vehicle weight of 4,210kg. The car is equipped with the company's DiPilot 600 autonomous driving system, which includes three LiDAR sensors and offers Navigate On Autopilot functionality on highways and urban roads. It also comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes, YangWang's proprietary Disus-P hydraulic suspension, and the same wading mode as the standard version.
Positioned as the top luxury model in the YangWang range, the U8L is an alternative to the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan for Chinese buyers who prefer domestic vehicles. While it may struggle to compete on quality or prestige, the U8L boasts technology that no European rival can match. Video : See details of the BYD Yangwang U8L SUV in China.
