Number of victims hospitalized after eating chicken rice in Nha Trang increased by more than 200 people

Of these, 157 cases were hospitalized at 12 hospitals and medical centers in Khanh Hoa province, of which 2 have been discharged, leaving 155. The remaining 55 cases were examined by medical facilities, prescribed medication, and sent home for outpatient monitoring.

The leaders of Khanh Hoa Province’s Department of Health said that hospitals across the province are still receiving suspected cases of food poisoning due to eating rice and chicken pho at the restaurant. Most of the victims being treated have stable vital signs.

Some victims also had symptoms of nausea, fever, frequent loose stools, and intermittent abdominal pain. Severe cases, the elderly, and children were transferred to Khanh Hoa General Hospital for further treatment.

According to information from the Nha Trang City Department of Health, the Interdisciplinary Food Safety Inspection Team and the City Food Poisoning Investigation Team have urgently conducted an inspection, determined the cause of the above incident, and promptly reported to the Nha Trang City People's Committee.

At the time of inspection of the chicken rice establishment on Ba Trieu Street, the owner of the establishment presented a Certificate of Eligibility for Business and a Certificate of Eligibility for Food Safety.

The inspection team requested the owner of the establishment to stop business operations until notified by the competent authority. Sealed 4 freezers containing food at the establishment. After the test results were available, the inspection team continued to invite the owner of the establishment to work according to regulations.

As of the afternoon of March 14, the results of testing of patient samples and food samples have not yet been released. Therefore, authorities have not been able to determine the reason why many people were hospitalized after eating food at the chicken rice restaurant mentioned above.
