(PLVN) - Speaking with PLVN, Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Deputy Minister of Construction affirmed this after the Prime Minister asked the ministry to review its responsibilities for the delay in implementing Component Project 4, Long Thanh Airport (Phase I).

The Long Thanh airport project consists of 4 components. In particular, Component 4 (ground service works) was warned in mid-2024 about the risk of "flooding" progress and the possibility of affecting the overall operation of the airport.

Specifically, it will not be until the end of December 2024 that the Ministry of Transport (old) will announce the names of investors of the first three aviation service projects under Component Project 4.

Regarding this issue, the Government Office has just issued a document conveying the opinion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on reviewing the responsibility for implementing the above-mentioned component project. The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Construction to urgently urge and direct the implementation of the Long Thanh International Airport Project (phase 1), ensuring its basic completion before December 31, 2025.

“In this period, we must make every effort. The Prime Minister requested a review, so we must be even more determined and resolute! We must self-examine and self-correct to find effective solutions to complete the tasks assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister,” Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan told PLVN this morning - March 6.

Ông Vũ Thế Phiệt - Chủ tịch ACV báo cáo với Thủ tướng Phạm Minh Chính về tiến độ thi công Sân bay Long Thành.

Mr. Vu The Phiet - Chairman of ACV reported to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the construction progress of Long Thanh Airport.

Previously, the Minister of Transport (former) signed Decision No. 1531/QD-BGTVT on the establishment of the Steering Committee for the preparation for the exploitation of Long Thanh International Airport. This Steering Committee is headed by the leader of the Ministry of Transport; the deputy head is the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (permanent deputy head), the General Director of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and representatives of the leaders of the departments under the Ministry of Transport (former): Transport Infrastructure, Transport, Enterprise Management, Department of Construction Investment Management, etc.

It is known that, near the above mentioned time, the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam - Mr. Dinh Viet Thang submitted an application for early retirement. Mr. Pham Van Hao - Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam was transferred to the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Enterprise Management (former Ministry of Transport). Chief of Office of the Ministry of Transport (former) Uong Viet Dung was then transferred to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to replace Mr. Dinh Viet Thang as Director.

Present at the project site in December 2024, Minister Tran Hong Minh requested ACV and contractors to focus maximum human and material resources to speed up progress; negotiate with contractors to purchase equipment as soon as possible, to complete before December 31, 2025.

"This is not just an ordinary airport, but also the prestige and honor of the transport industry, ACV, the contractor and the pride of the country and the people," Minister Tran Hong Minh emphasized.
