The "strange" survivor
The case of Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British passenger who was the sole survivor of the Air India plane crash on June 12, is considered rare.

The passenger, who was sitting in seat 11A, was thrown from the plane but was able to walk to a nearby ambulance. He was on the flight to London with his younger brother, who was also sitting in row 11. However, his brother and all other passengers on the flight died.
According to doctors, the surviving passenger suffered multiple injuries but is now out of danger. Aviation experts say that Ramesh's case is miraculous, but there have been several similar stories in the past that have shocked the world .
The Girl with the Plane Tattoo and the Unfading Memories
Cecelia Crocker (known as Cecelia Cichan at the time of the 1987 crash) was a passenger on a Northwest Airlines flight that crashed in the suburbs of Detroit, killing all 154 people on board, including Cecelia's parents and brother.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 was taking off for Phoenix when it banked. The left wing of the plane struck a light pole before slicing off the roof of a car rental building. The crash left a trail of wreckage and bodies stretching nearly a mile along the Middle Belt.

The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) concluded that the crew did not properly adjust the plane's wings for takeoff. The agency also said that the cockpit warning system did not alert the crew to the problem.
At the time of the accident, firefighter John Thiede, one of the first people to arrive at the scene, said he found the 4-year-old girl still wearing her seat belt.
"We saw a chair that was upside down. When we turned it over to check underneath, there was a hand reaching out from the chair," he told CBS News.
After the accident, Cecelia - who was living with her family in Tempe, Arizona - was sent to Alabama to live with her aunt and uncle. Her only relatives always kept Cecelia away from the media.
In a 2013 documentary, Cecelia said she thinks about the accident every day. She still bears scars on her arms, legs, and forehead. She also has a tattoo of an airplane on her wrist as a reminder of the incident.
"I got this tattoo as a reminder of where I've been. There are so many scars on my body from circumstances. So I wanted to leave a mark on myself," she said in the film.
Other survivors
At least three other passengers were also miraculous survivors of plane crashes around the world.
George Lamson Jr., then 17, survived the Galaxy Airlines crash in Reno, USA in 1985.
On June 12, after hearing the news of a plane crash in India with only one survivor, Mr. Lamson shared on social media.
"There are no words to describe moments like this, but I wanted to share. Such events always leave a lasting impression in the life of anyone who has experienced the same thing," he said.
