The convincing performance in Asia in the summer of 2025 helped coach Hansi Flick's Barcelona team create excitement both mentally and physically, reviewing their squad in the most positive way to be ready to enter the new season in La Liga.
Lamine Yamal played impressively in the first 45 minutes of the match.
The match at Daegu Stadium took place with the advantage leaning towards the Spanish giants. In the 21st minute, young talent Lamine Yamal had a skillful dribble on the right wing before making a convenient cross for Gavi to tap the ball in to open the score.
It didn't take long, just 6 minutes later, it was Robert Lewandowski's turn to speak up with a close-range finish, doubling the gap after a well-placed pass from defender Gerard Martin.
Gavi scored twice in the match, scoring the most goals for Barcelona in the 2025 summer Asian tour
In the final minutes of the first half, Gavi completed his own double after a smooth, quite improvised combination between Dani Olmo and Jules Kounde, helping Barcelona lead 3-0 before entering the break.
Robert Lewandowski scored
In the second half, coach Flick continued to rotate his squad by replacing all 11 players on the field to test the lineup. 17-year-old talent Toni Fernández - the latest "product" of La Masia - did not disappoint when scoring the fourth goal in the 54th minute.
The fifth goal came in the 65th minute from the hotly-anticipated Marcus Rashford. The English striker took just 20 minutes after coming on to score his first goal for Barcelona, completing a satisfying 5-0 victory.
Marcus Rashford scores his first goal for Barcelona
According to statistics, Barcelona had 29 shots, 16 of which were on target. Meanwhile, Daegu FC did not have a single shot towards goalkeeper Joan Garcia's goal (then Szczesny and Kochen). Lamine Yamal was the most prominent name on the field thanks to his ability to dribble, create breakthroughs and lead the game in the first 45 minutes.
The win over Daegu FC also marked the Catalans' third consecutive win in Asia, after they beat Vissel Kobe 3-1 and FC Seoul 7-3. With the high form of key players such as Gavi, Lewandowski and the quick integration of Rashford, Barcelona is showing careful preparation ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
Barcelona had a very successful summer tour
The joy is not yet complete for the English player as Barcelona are still having trouble registering Marcus Rashford due to financial regulations of La Liga. However, the recent performance is an optimistic signal for fans.
Barcelona will also play the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10 against Como, an Italian team coached by former Barcelona player Cesc Fabregas. This match will be an official "debut" in front of the home crowd, and also a final test for Hansi Flick to complete the squad before starting La Liga on August 17 with an away match at Mallorca.
