Quang Tri: In one night, 3 cases of smuggling goods worth nearly 1 billion VND were discovered.

Today, June 5, the Economic Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police, announced that it had just discovered and arrested 3 cases of transporting prohibited and smuggled goods, seizing goods with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND.

Specifically, at 20:10 on June 4, 2025, at km9 of National Highway 9, through the intersection between Cam Lo - La Son Expressway and National Highway 9 in Nam Hieu village, Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, the authorities stopped and checked a car with license plate 29D-234.20.

The inspection discovered that the vehicle was carrying 45 bottles of Chivas Regal Aged 25year brand wine; 54 bottles of Royal Salute 21 brand wine and 6,000 packs of Esse brand cigarettes. The total value of the goods was estimated at about 450 million VND. All of the above goods had no invoices or documents proving their origin. The driver fled the scene.

At the same time, at about 20:20 at km10 of National Highway 9 in Vinh An village, Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, the working group of the Economic Police Department coordinated with other units to inspect a car with license plate 74D-002.01 driven by Tran Dang Khoa (born in 1998; residing in Quarter 7, Ward 5, Dong Ha City). Thereby, it was discovered that the car contained 54 bottles of Chivas 12; 60 bottles of Jagermeister; 1,500 packs of Jet brand cigarettes and 6 Panasonic brand air conditioners. The total value of the goods was estimated at about 200 million VND. At this time, the driver could not present invoices or documents proving the origin of the goods.

Then, at around 8:30 p.m., the authorities continued to inspect and discovered that the car with license plate 43D-007.39 driven by Dieu Duc Trung (born in 1991; residing in Quarter 7, Ward 5, Dong Ha City) was transporting 60 bottles of Royal Salute 21 wine; 4,000 bottles of Heniken beer and 3,000 packs of Jet brand cigarettes without invoices or documents proving the origin, with a total value of about 250 million VND.

Through initial verification, the above goods were all prohibited and smuggled goods transported by the subjects from Lao Bao to Dong Ha when they were discovered and arrested.

Currently, the Economic Police Department is temporarily detaining the vehicle and goods to continue investigating and clarifying the cases.
