Parents continue to complain about moldy potatoes

According to information, after lunch on December 21, many students of Dien Bien 1 Primary School showed symptoms of stomachache and nausea, so they were taken to hospitals in Thanh Hoa City for treatment. Doctor Le Tien Toan - Director of Thanh Hoa City General Hospital said that the hospital had received 12 cases of students from Dien Bien 1 School. The children were hospitalized with stomachache, diarrhea, and fever. The students were hospitalized with the diagnosis: "Food poisoning caused by bacteria, unspecified".

According to data provided by the two hospitals that are taking care of the students, the number of hospitalized and inpatient students is 18; meanwhile, the number of students examined and treated at other medical facilities and self-treated at home is not included.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the stomachaches that caused many students to be hospitalized after lunch at Dien Bien 1 Primary School.

However, the incident did not end when many parents were upset and continued to report that they had discovered green mold on the potatoes. According to the photo of the children's snack menu on the afternoon of December 26, the potatoes showed signs of green mold. The parents immediately complained to the relevant parties about this ingredient that showed signs of not ensuring food safety.

Upon receiving information from parents, the school changed the snack menu on Tuesday afternoon (December 26). Accordingly, the sweet potato dessert was replaced with meat porridge.

The original afternoon snack on Tuesday was sweet potato pudding.

After the above incident, LTT's parent said: "On the afternoon of December 26, representatives of the school and the food supplier for boarding students visited and encouraged the family whose children had stomachaches, diarrhea, and fever and had to be hospitalized for treatment, including my child."

Currently, most of the students who had diarrhea, stomachache, and fever have stabilized and returned to class. According to Mr. Tran Van Thuc - Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, the incident is currently being verified and handled by the authorities. The Department of Education and Training is still waiting for the results report.
