The economy achieved many positive results.

Mr. Pham Minh Thien - Deputy Director of the Department of Finance said that the province's industrial production activities continued to grow in August 2025. In the first 8 months, the industrial production index increased by 12% over the same period in 2024; total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached 150,411 billion VND, reaching more than 66% of the yearly plan and increasing by nearly 17% over the same period; export turnover reached nearly 2,472 million USD, increasing by 20.41% over the same period. The province has newly granted investment policies to 26 projects, including 5 FDI projects with a total registered capital of 14.48 million USD; 21 domestic projects with a total capital of more than 6,022 billion VND.

However, some industrial projects, especially large-scale renewable energy projects, have not been able to generate commercial electricity due to incomplete investment procedures or difficulties in the national grid connection mechanism. The disbursement rate of public investment capital in the first 8 months of the year was low (reaching 38.14% of the capital plan assigned by the Prime Minister ) due to problems with planning, site clearance, etc.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that there were some difficulties in August and the past months, which need to be focused on to resolve in order to achieve the growth target. Specifically, at the end of July and the beginning of August, Duyen Hai Power Center had 2 factories stop operating for maintenance, which affected the industrial production index. Currently, 1 unit has resumed operation, 1 unit is continuing to be maintained.

The export market is currently quite good but it is forecasted that there will be certain impacts in the last months of the year. The Department of Industry and Trade is coordinating with agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, Mekong Delta branch, to provide relevant information to deal with the US tariff issue and diversify the market.

Mr. Tuan also added that some industrial clusters are still stuck with site clearance, which needs to be done soon to attract infrastructure investment. The Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen Production Plant project is stuck due to the lack of specific guidance on the process of developing renewable energy projects serving green hydrogen; technical standards related to the main plant and equipment, product storage and transportation processes do not have regulations for hydrogen production.

Currently, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Finance and the Department of Agriculture and Environment are coordinating to advise the Provincial People's Committee to propose to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to resolve this issue. On the other hand, along with the pressure of increasing input costs, most enterprises are currently facing difficulties in capital and logistics costs...
