Petrolimex has a new 56-year-old general director

Vietnam National Petroleum Group has just announced the decision to appoint Mr. Luu Van Tuyen - Deputy General Director, to hold the position of General Director.

Mr. Luu Van Tuyen was born in 1969 in Hung Yen province, has a master's degree in economics . Before becoming general director, Mr. Tuyen held many key management positions at Petrolimex such as member of the board of supervisors, head of general department, chief accountant and deputy general director since 2019.

He currently represents the State capital managed by the Ministry of Finance , with 7.23% of Petrolimex's capital.

In 2025, Petrolimex's board of directors said it will focus on streamlining the apparatus, cutting costs; improving management efficiency, setting a minimum growth target of 8% for the year and striving for double-digit growth in the 2026 - 2030 period.

Recently, this group has implemented a number of investment restructuring activities abroad, such as announcing the auction of capital contributions at Petrolimex Laos One Member Co., Ltd. and terminating the operation of its representative office in Cambodia.

Based on the actual output of gasoline sold in the domestic market, Petrolimex accounts for about 50% of the country's market share.

Previously, on May 6, the Ministry of Finance decided to temporarily suspend the position of state capital representative at Petrolimex with Mr. Dao Nam Hai, who has held the position of general director of the group since March 2022. Mr. Hai, born in 1974, also held the position of member of the board of directors and general director of Petrolimex Insurance Joint Stock Corporation (PJICO).

By the end of May, Petrolimex dismissed Mr. Hai from his position as general director and suspended his membership in the board of directors.

On July 7, the Ministry of Public Security announced that it had prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Hai, former general director of PJICO, to investigate the crime of accepting bribes. This is one of the largest non-life insurance companies in Vietnam, with motor vehicle insurance as its core business.
