Mr. Dinh Tien Dung ceases to be a National Assembly delegate

On June 19, the Politburo agreed to let Mr. Dinh Tien Dung resign from his position as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term and Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi. Two days later, the Central Committee agreed to let Mr. Dung resign from his position as Politburo member and 13th Party Central Committee member according to his personal wishes.

According to the Politburo, in his position as Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Finance for the 2016-2021 term, Mr. Dung made great efforts in directing and managing the work of the financial sector, achieving important results. However, he bears political responsibility as the head of the organization for allowing many violations to occur at the Ministry of Finance ; lack of responsibility in leadership and direction, allowing the Party Committee, the Ministry of Finance and a number of organizations and individuals to commit many violations and shortcomings, causing serious consequences, bad public opinion, and reducing the prestige of the Party organization and the state management agency.

The Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Finance was assessed as not performing, not performing properly, not fully performing the assigned functions and tasks in advising, promulgating mechanisms, policies, and state management of the issuance and trading of individual corporate bonds of enterprises, including enterprises belonging to the "ecosystem" of Van Thinh Phat Group Joint Stock Company, An Dong Group Joint Stock Company; in state management of the budget related to AIC and AIC ecosystems.

Regarding the above violations, at the 42nd session, the Central Inspection Committee decided to warn a series of leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Finance.

Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, 63 years old, from Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province; Member of the 13th Politburo; Member of the Party Central Committee, 11th, 12th, 13th terms; National Assembly delegate, 14th, 15th terms. He was Minister of Finance from June 2013 to March 2021; from April 2021 to present, he has held the position of Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Since the beginning of the term (2021) up to now, the National Assembly has dismissed 3 deputies and dismissed 10 deputies. The total number of deputies of the 15th National Assembly is currently 486.
