He expressed his feeling of being overwhelmed when participating in the national film Red Rain . When the producer contacted him, he thought, "Oh, such a big film, why would it be my turn?" Because Pleiku is far from Hanoi , he refused to attend the first and second round of casting sessions.

But in the third round of casting, director Dang Thai Huyen still sent him a short scene to try out. That was the scene where he witnessed his teammates being burned alive.

He found that segment much more difficult than the short films he had acted in, so he wanted to try it, and went to the People's Army Cinema to participate in the casting.

"People often say I have a knack for this job. The character Hai in the original work by writer Chu Lai is called "Humpback Hai". Me too, when I sit down my back is really hunched. Hai is from Quang Nam, my hometown is also in Quang Nam. Hai works as an electrician, so I used to study electricity.
