- In modern life, when digital technology is increasingly developing in all fields, Lang Son people have been proactively catching up with the trend of creating content on digital platforms. From simple videos about cuisine, agricultural products, landscapes, to carefully crafted products with strong personal imprints, people not only consider this a playground to connect the community but also consider digital content creation as a job that brings in income. Thanks to that, the image of Lang Son people and land has the opportunity to spread in the general development flow of digital society.
People are active, proactive and creative
In recent years, the image of "Ms. Tho Nong San" - a woman wearing a turban, a modernized shirt of the Nung ethnic group, and a simple, honest voice in short videos on the TikTok platform has become familiar to people in the province and many provinces and cities across the country. That is Ms. Dang Thi Tho (born in 1968, Cai Kinh commune). From simple videos about how to pickle vegetables, dry bamboo shoots or introduce local specialties, her personal page "Ms. Tho Oi 68" has attracted more than 105,000 followers.
Mrs. Tho happily shared: As a farmer myself, I understand the difficulties and hardships when agricultural products have good harvests but low prices, or when there are years of crop failure. Moreover, as a former Head of the Farmers' Association, Head of the Women's Association and then Village Chief, I have had the opportunity to participate in many training courses on new rural development, from which I always try to learn new and good things.
With her “talent” for speaking and dynamism, Ms. Tho initially asked her nephew to help her record short videos about her daily work life using her smartphone to post on TikTok. Gradually, when the channel attracted great attention, she began promoting and consuming local OCOP products. Currently, Ms. Tho has become a KOL (short for the English phrase "Key Opinion Leader", meaning a person who leads public opinion, a person with influence) and considers creating digital content as her main job to help increase her income.
If Ms. Tho represents the bold participation of the middle-aged generation, then for the younger generation, creating digital content is an even more attractive profession. According to incomplete statistics, currently the whole province has nearly 50 people working in digital content creation with personal accounts owning over 15,000 followers; in addition, there are hundreds of other accounts with from 1,000 to 15,000 followers, typically tiktoker Bich Duyen (Bang Bang Son Nu) with over 550,000 followers; tiktoker Cam Van (Van Lang Son ) with over 596,000 followers...
The above individuals demonstrate the proactiveness and agility of Lang Son people in adapting to technology, turning familiar things such as gardens, kitchens, ethnic costumes, and village landscapes into creative materials in digital space. Each person has a different style and method of expression, but all affirm that creating digital content can become a career that brings sustainable income.
If for Ms. Dang Thi Tho, content creation is a way to approach customers directly, increasing revenue from product consumption, then for Ms. Bich Duyen, it is a way to build a personal brand, creating a stable source of income from views and advertising... Each person has their own way of doing things, but all contribute to spreading the image of Xu Lang widely, while increasing their own income.
Not only stopping at the initial successful individuals, currently, many children who are still students and many people from all walks of life in the province have been actively creating digital content through short videos on social networks.
Digital content development and orientation
In recent times, the flow of digital content creation has opened up many opportunities to promote the province’s culture and tourism potential domestically and internationally, while also contributing to economic benefits. Videos introducing typical dishes, traditional festivals or beautiful landscapes at famous places have made many tourists curious, coming to Lang Son to experience it in person or place orders to enjoy Lang Son cuisine.
Ms. Nguyen Le Giang, Kinh Bac ward, Bac Ninh province said: I follow the Tiktok account Co Tho Oi 68, watching the clip I saw her introduce many delicious foods of Lang Son with the true "style" of a farmer, so I was very impressed. I often order Lang Son foods such as chili bamboo shoots, black jelly, khau nhuc... on the channel she introduced and feel very secure because the products always have clear origin.
Not outside the development trend of digital platforms, from 2024 to present, the Provincial Radio and Television Station (now Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station) has established a Digital Content Team under the Electronic Newspaper - Digital Content Department, actively operating on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Zalo and two Facebook fanpages: Lang Son Newspaper and Lang Son Television LSTV. Only from April 2025 (since Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station was established) to date, the unit's Digital Content Team has posted more than 2,000 videos and articles on Youtube and Facebook platforms with over 2.6 million views and interactions.
Mr. Vu Thanh Son, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Provincial Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, said: Determining that digital content development is an inevitable trend, in recent times, the Editorial Board has paid special attention and considered this a key task, both urgent and long-term, with three main orientations: taking the public as the center; multi-platform - multi-form; innovation associated with technology and human resources. At the same time, attention is paid to orienting and managing posted content to ensure it is healthy, maintaining authenticity and cultural standards. Thereby, not only meeting the public's need for information but also contributing to effectively implementing the task of propagating the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws and policies. In addition, the unit has been in the process of building a digital journalism economic model, diversifying revenue sources, not only relying on advertising, but also expanding content services, technology cooperation, and developing digital media products.
In recent times, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control, Provincial Police have also regularly monitored the activities of KOLs in the area, and at the same time, decentralized responsibilities to effectively carry out management work. At the same time, the unit has promoted the dissemination of the Law on Cyber Security, exchanged and guided KOLs to enhance their responsibility in spreading official and positive information on cyberspace and promptly warned about tricks and risks from high-tech crimes.
Lieutenant Colonel Luu Thanh Tung, Deputy Head of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Provincial Police said: Currently, the unit is advising the Provincial Police leaders to organize a meeting program with KOLs, scheduled to take place at the end of September with the theme "Safe Network - Peaceful Province - Developing Community". The program aims to disseminate legal regulations related to the activities of administrators and KOLs on cyberspace, and at the same time clarify the role of KOLs in orienting public opinion, building a great national unity bloc, promoting volunteer activities, community projects, as well as promoting the image of the country, people and homeland of Lang Son. On this occasion, the Provincial Police also plans to establish an Alliance of KOLs, administrators of associations and groups to create a forum for KOLs to share experiences and good practices in building, developing and managing pages, channels and groups on social networks.
Creating digital content is no longer just a matter of curiosity and discovery, but has become a new way for many classes of Lang Son people to assert themselves, connect with the community and exploit economic value. In an era where everyone can become a “digital storyteller” about their homeland, Lang Son is increasingly keeping pace with dynamic, unique development, integrating into the global technology flow.
