At Apple's event that took place at 0:00 on September 10, AirPods Pro 3 was the first device to be introduced. The appearance of the device is not too different from its predecessor, the main highlight comes from the upgrade of the internal hardware.

Accordingly, the internal structure of the headphones has been customized by Apple, helping to increase the feeling of bass and clearer vocals. Apple emphasizes that AirPods Pro 3 has the world's best active noise cancellation (ANC), considering wireless in-ear headphones alone.

Another notable upgrade is the battery life of each headset. According to the announcement, the new headset can operate continuously for up to 2 hours longer than the previous version AirPods Pro 2, helping users have a longer music listening or talking experience without needing to recharge.

However, a paradox occurs when considering total usage time including the charging case. While AirPods Pro 2 can provide up to 30 hours of music listening, AirPods Pro 3 only reach 24 hours. This means that the total usage time is reduced by up to 25%, a surprising number.

If the advantage of AirPods Pro 3 is the continuous usage time in a listening session, the big disadvantage is that the charging case of this device will drain the battery significantly faster when the user moves away from the power source.

It is speculated that Apple may have equipped a smaller capacity battery for the AirPods Pro 3 charging case. The proof is that although the size is almost unchanged (even a few millimeters larger), the weight of the charging case has decreased from 50.8 grams to 44 grams.

Another theory involves Apple integrating a U2 chip instead of a U1 chip into the charging case to support the Find My feature. It is possible that the U2 chip consumes more power, or is larger in size, forcing Apple to shrink the battery capacity to ensure space.

Whatever the reason, based on Apple’s numbers, AirPods Pro 3 users will need to charge their case more often. While the AirPods Pro 2’s charging case can fully charge the earbuds up to four times, the new version can only charge them about twice before running out of power.

Still, the AirPods Pro 3 hold the lead in a few areas: they get an extra 2 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation on, an extra half hour of battery life with the heart rate sensor on, and up to 10 hours of battery life with Hearing Aid Transparency.

In addition, AirPods Pro 3 has added a live translation feature with Apple Intelligence. Users can activate the mode with a swipe gesture, the headset will automatically adjust the volume to play the translated language in real time. The content of the translated sentence is displayed on the iPhone screen, and transmitted to the other headset if the other person is also wearing AirPods Pro.

However, the overall reduced battery life is still a point worth considering for users who need to travel for long periods of time.
