Washington has targeted nearly 300 entities in Russia, China and other countries accused of supporting President Vladimir Putin's special military campaign in Ukraine, the US Treasury Department announced.

"The United States, along with many international partners, is particularly concerned about entities based in the People's Republic of China and other third countries that provide critical inputs to Russia's military-industrial base," the statement said.

Washington believes that this support allows Russia to continue its special military campaign in Ukraine.

In addition to China, non-Russian entities targeted are located in Azerbaijan, Belgium, Slovakia, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

As part of the sanctions, the announcement said, the US State Department also blacklisted individuals and companies involved in Russia's energy, mining and metals sectors.

The State Department sanctions also target individuals involved in the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in a Siberian prison in February.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has consistently opposed previous US and Western sanctions against Moscow, calling them “illegal sanctions” against his country.
