Community model "Green Dong Son - Clean Sea"

Last weekend, more than 500 union members, students, civil servants, public employees, soldiers and residents of Dong Son commune, a coastal commune of Quang Ngai province, participated in a community model called "Green Dong Son - Clean Sea".

The beach cleaning campaign is one of a series of activities in response to the community model “Green Dong Son – Clean Sea”. The participating forces collected a large amount of waste along the beach, sending the message “let’s join hands to clean the sea” to protect the environment, making Dong Son an attractive beach destination for tourists.

Mr. Truong Trang, Dong Son commune, Quang Ngai province shared:
“If we can organize a green, clean and beautiful environment like this, we will stop going to the beach to collect trash so that people can join hands and contribute, and see meaningful actions for a green, clean and beautiful environment. This is a very good activity, in the future, our children will see this kind of work and follow suit.”

Mr. Nguyen The Hung, Commander of the Military Command of Dong Son Commune, Quang Ngai Province said:
“In order to implement the plan of the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, the Military Command of the commune sent forces to join the commune's mass organizations to organize a clean-up campaign at Chau Tan and An Sen beaches. The officers and soldiers encouraged relatives and families to dispose of garbage in the right place.”

The community model “Green Dong Son – Clean Sea” demonstrates the determination to build a green – clean – beautiful environment of Dong Son commune after the merger. Activities such as cleaning the sea, cleaning, clearing roads, exchanging garbage for trees have contributed to raising awareness, responsibility and action of cadres, union members, association members and people of all walks of life in preserving and protecting the environment, building a green lifestyle, associated with the development of sustainable sea tourism and community tourism.

Mr. Vo Thanh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Dong Son Commune People's Committee, Quang Ngai Province emphasized:
“In addition to launching today, we also encourage people from now on to be conscious and protect their own environment, not to litter the environment and limit the use of plastic bags and disposable plastic products. If the environment is not clean and beautiful, tourists will not come to us, which will greatly affect the economic life of the commune as well as the lives of the people.”

Dong Son commune also established and launched 10 community environmental monitoring teams to propagate, monitor, and promptly prevent acts of environmental pollution in each village and hamlet to successfully build a "Green Dong Son - Clean Sea".
