Marmoush's injury is the latest blow to Manchester City during the international break

After just the first 3 rounds of the 2025/26 Premier League, coach Pep Guardiola once again had a headache when many key players had injury problems. Nico O'Reilly, Abdukodir Khusanov, John Stones, Rico Lewis and Rayan Ait-Nouri all had problems while focusing on national teams.

Currently, Manchester City's defense only has Matheus Nunes, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake who are healthy and ready to face MU in round 4 of the Premier League on September 14.

Manchester City are also facing the risk of losing striker Omar Marmoush for the derby. The 26-year-old suffered a knee injury during Egypt's 2026 World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on September 9.

Marmoush lasted just nine minutes before being taken off following a heavy collision. The Egyptian FA's medical team said Marmoush had suffered a bruised knee ligament. He has returned to Cairo for scans and will be assessed further by Manchester City's medical team.

The pressure on Pep Guardiola is huge, especially after the club's poor start to the season with defeats to Tottenham and Brighton. The upcoming Manchester derby is just the start of a tough week for the Etihad club, with Champions League clashes with Napoli in the early hours of September 18 and a trip to Arsenal next weekend.
