Gyokeres is not satisfied with coach Amorim. |
According to Record (Portugal), the Swedish striker felt disappointed when seeing Lindelof - who shares the same agent Hasan Cetinkaya - mercilessly "swept aside" by coach Amorim at Old Trafford. This detail greatly influenced Gyokeres' decision, even though he had worked with Amorim at Sporting Lisbon.
United were keen to sign a new striker ahead of the 2025/26 season, with Gyokeres being targeted as the ideal option. However, his relationship with Lindelof – and discontent from his agent Cetinkaya – saw the deal fall through early. Cetinkaya was reportedly furious that Lindelof was not offered a new contract by the club, despite his desire to stay and contribute further.
Gyokeres had a breakout season in Portugal with 54 goals in 52 games, following up an impressive debut with 43 goals in his first season with Sporting. His brilliant form has made him a target for a series of European giants, with Arsenal currently dominating MU and Juventus.
Lindelof, meanwhile, has been with United since 2017 after a £31 million transfer from Benfica. He has played 284 times in all competitions for the Red Devils, but last season he played just 25 games, his lowest since arriving in England. Lindelof's contract expires this summer and the club have decided not to renew.
