LG Display invests more than 900 million USD to develop OLED technology

LG Display said the funds will be allocated to develop advanced OLED technologies as part of its strategy to secure a stronger foothold in the global display market.

Liquid crystal display maker LG Display said on June 17 that it will invest 1.26 trillion won (about $925 million) to enhance the competitiveness of its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) business.

In a filing with the regulator, LG Display said the funds will be allocated to develop advanced OLED technologies as part of its strategy to secure a stronger foothold in the global display market. The investment period will last until June 30, 2027.

The investment was approved at the company's board meeting the same day, marking the first major investment plan announced by a domestic company since new President Lee Jae Myung took office on June 4./.
