Tech unicorn VNG has a new CEO

(Dan Tri) - Mr. Kelley Wong, the new General Director of VNG, is a Canadian citizen and has worked at many securities companies.

VNG Corporation has just announced the appointment of Mr. Kelly Yin Hong Wong as General Director from May 20. His term will last 5 years, until 2030.

VNG has been vacant as a general director since the end of 2024, when Mr. Le Hong Minh resigned. After that, Mr. Minh still holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors and Legal Representative of VNG.

According to the introduction information on the VNG website, Mr. Kelly Wong (Canadian nationality), came to Vietnam in 2004 and joined the company in 2019 as Deputy General Director of VNG and General Director of VNGGames.

Previously, he also ran many different businesses such as Deputy General Director of KIDO, Member of the Board of Directors of Rong Viet Securities Company, Executive Chairman of Red Wok Investment (RWI), and CEO of Ho Chi Minh Securities Company (HSC).

VNG was founded in 2004 by Mr. Le Hong Minh. The company owns a digital ecosystem with a diverse portfolio of products and services in 4 main groups, including online games, Zalo, ZaloPay and digital businesses.

In 2024, VNG lost 1,180 billion VND. In the first quarter of this year, the company continued to lose 15 billion VND.
