Dramatic opening day of VOC 2024 off-road car race

(Dan Tri) - PVOIL VOC 2024 continues to bring a healthy and orderly playground to the off-road vehicle player community, and there is no shortage of dramatic "car destruction" scenes.
The PVOIL Cup Vietnam Off-Road Car Race (PVOIL VOC) is an annual event that attracts off-road enthusiasts from all three regions of the country. This year, PVOIL continues to be held at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture Village (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi ), for 3 days from November 1-3. In this edition, PVOIL VOC 2024 is divided into 4 competition categories: Basic, Advanced Pickup, Advanced SUV and Professional. The Basic category will have competitions from original pickup models, the "modification" levels gradually increase according to the racing category, to suit the complex terrain racing tracks carefully designed by the organizers. On the morning of November 2, a large number of people coming to watch the PVOIL VOC 2024 race focused their attention on track number 6. Here, advanced SUV models from racing teams brought eye-catching "car destruction" performances, through the highly technical track. Cars participating in this race will have to overcome 3 deep water holes, then overcome 2 obstacles arranged by the organizers with increasing difficulty, before reaching the finish line. Scores are calculated based on the time it takes to complete the test, but there are also some regulations that racing teams must pay attention to, if they do not want to lose points.
Each racing team has two members, the main driver and the "chà" - the term for the assistant driver. The "chà" plays an equally important role in the racing categories, often using a winch to assist the main driver in controlling the car to conquer difficult terrain. At the starting line of race number 6, the "cha" will have to hold a winch and climb over deep holes, as the rules require the winch to be on the race track. After crossing the terrain, the "cha" will have to tie the winch to a crane arranged by the organizers, which will act as an anchor point for the racing team's car. After hooking up the winch to the anchor point, the main drivers will drive the car to perform the main test. The steep, deep holes, combined with mud and water, require the racing teams to calculate the landing point, as well as consider placing the wheels in the right position, to be able to climb the slope. Of course, in this test, the first racing team will have the advantage when the road is still good. The teams competing later will have a hard time, because the previous cars have "plowed" the road when climbing the slope. After passing through 3 deep pits, the racing cars will have to face 2 obstacles which are barrels arranged horizontally to form a ladder. In the first obstacle, most of the racing teams have no difficulty. With the final obstacle, the main driver not only has to adjust the accelerator and brake appropriately to create a grip when climbing, but also has to combine the use of the winch when the car reaches the top. Because in this position, all 4 wheels are suspended in the air, with no terrain to grip. In the final step, the main drivers had to precisely adjust the winch so that the car could slowly be pulled over the obstacle. At that time, the front of the car plunged straight down, making many viewers feel scared, but then there was an explosion of applause and cheers when the car successfully stopped and touched the rear wheels to the ground, without flipping forward. On Track 9 for the Advanced Pickup class, the race combines speed and technicality. At the starting position, the competing vehicles will have to continuously go up/down the slope along the winding curve, before entering the more "challenging" terrain. This is the stage that requires the main driver to grasp the appropriate speed and cornering angle to help the motorbike follow the organizer's track smoothly and quickly. If the throttle is too high, the car may face a pole crash (points deducted), or lose time moving forward/backward. After passing the speed run, the teams competing on track 9 will have to conquer a rather large pit. There are many drivers who over-revive when entering this terrain, causing the car to plummet to the ground, creating a "painful" feeling for those watching the race. In the pit crossing step, the "cha" comes into play again, needing to quickly hook the winch to the front of the car and the fixed point designed by the organizers. After that, the teams have about 100m of winding dirt road, before entering the final challenge on track 9. Before reaching the finish line of track 9, the teams need to cross 2 horizontal pits. The organizers have arranged 2 tree trunks across the pit, and the "cha" will have the task of jumping into the pit, rearranging the tree trunks and navigating, helping the main driver overcome the terrain. Among them, there is a racing team with female "cha", with strength and speed not inferior to men. These "beautiful ladies" continuously receive great cheers from the audience. This is a typical test at PVOIL VOC. Therefore, many racing teams choose to put the gears on and accelerate hard to pass instead of letting the "chà" fall down to arrange. Of course, the main driver must arrange the 2 wooden bars in the middle of the 2 front wheels, otherwise the car will have no support to overcome the terrain. After passing these 2 horizontal pits, the "cha" need to rearrange the wooden bars (if necessary) according to the original design of the organizers and then quickly return to the car before reaching the finish line. This rule is mandatory, the racing team that does not comply will be deducted points. Above are just 2 of a total of 15 racing tracks at PVOIL VOC 2024, bringing exciting off-road racing to live or television audiences.
In addition to the intense races, PVOIL VOC 2024 also attracted many car manufacturers (Suzuki, Toyota, Isuzu, Nissan, Ford and Skoda) to participate, displaying products and organizing test drives on the rough terrain of Dong Mo. Among them, Skoda was quite "generous" when bringing SUV models that are on sale, while the remaining brands mainly brought pickup models or off-road vehicles.
