The event, with its powerful appeal and widespread appeal, attracted millions of people and tourists, creating an atmosphere of convergence and connection beyond expectations.

Record crowd at "National Festival"

Opening on August 28 at the National Exhibition Fair Center (Dong Anh Commune, Hanoi), the exhibition “80 Years of the Journey of Independence-Freedom-Happiness” quickly became the cultural and political focus of the whole country. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced statistics that in the first nine days from August 28 to September 5, the exhibition welcomed nearly 5 million visitors - a record number never seen before at any exhibition in Vietnam. Notably, September 1 recorded more than 1 million visitors, while other days ranged from 230,000 to 900,000 visitors.

The scale of the exhibition is considered the largest ever, with more than 230 exhibition booths on an area of nearly 260,000 m². The content ranges from achievements in technology, agriculture, economics , defense, education, to culture, digital transformation, aviation... All blend into the glorious and proud journey of 80 years of building the country. Not only a place to admire artifacts, the exhibition is also a space for exchange, where the past, present and future meet.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the exhibition continuously welcomed high-ranking delegations of the Party, State, Government and many international guests. At the same time, a large number of people from all regions, overseas Vietnamese and foreign tourists also flocked to the exhibition. Regardless of age, profession or region, the crowd coming to the exhibition brought with them excitement and a common pride.

Veterans recalled their memories of the battlefield. The elderly were moved by the difficult times and their efforts to rise up, while the young generation, students, and pupils found the fire of their desire to contribute. The attraction of the exhibition is also shown in the rich content and strong spread on most of the most popular digital platforms today. Social networks are flooded with beautiful images, realistic and touching videos, "reviews" affirming the quality and scale of the exhibition; as well as calling on friends and relatives to take the time to witness and experience the event...

Many families organize for all three generations to go see the exhibition together. Some people come to the exhibition three or four times to visit all the exhibition booths. Ms. Duong Huong Thao (Hoang Mai ward, Hanoi) said: “We spent 15 hours to see the exhibition. My parents walked 25,000 steps to explore the past, present and future of our country. The more we walked, the more proud and excited we felt - these were unforgettable moments for each family member”. In addition, the fever of “checking in” at the exhibition, collecting “patriotic items” and showing off new knowledge from the event has become a vibrant and positive movement among young people, especially students.

These impressive figures also explain why the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 155/CD-TTg (dated September 2, 2025) on extending the exhibition until September 15. The dispatch emphasized: The exhibition “attracts special attention and creates a strong ripple effect among all classes of people”. This timely decision creates more opportunities for many people everywhere to directly experience the special event of the 80th anniversary of National Day.

Creative experience, touching community emotions

What makes the exhibition so appealing is not only its scale, but also its creative and innovative way of presenting its content. For the first time, modern technology is applied at a high level, bringing vivid and multi-dimensional experiences. Visitors can "travel through time" to historical moments through virtual reality (VR) technology, admire hologram images, or try sitting in the cockpit of an Airbus A320 simulator. 3D mapping technology, drones, and 360o cameras... together create many open spaces, where history and the present meet in an accessible language of images, sounds...

These applications not only attract young people, but also inspire the elderly because they feel the breath of history seeming to revive right before their eyes. On average, about 100 events and experiential activities are held every day. High-altitude fireworks displays, robot performances, hot air balloons, artistic kite flying, traditional craft demonstrations, culinary exhibitions, special art performances, seminars, talks, etc. have created a vibrant and colorful festival atmosphere.

Among the exhibition spaces, the Kim Quy exhibition house stands out with the theme "95 years of the Party Flag lighting the way" by Nhan Dan Newspaper. With a meticulous investment in an area of over 10,000 m², this space impresses like a "long poem" of vision and intelligence. The spiral structure reminiscent of Co Loa Citadel leads visitors through seven content areas and one experience area, recreating the historical journey from the Party's founding, through the resistance wars to the renovation period. Instead of just displaying static artifacts, this place applies augmented reality (AR) technology, a semi-realistic stage and 3D models, creating a multi-sensory experience flow. Viewers not only look, but also feel, contemplate, and settle with history. Thanks to that, this thematic space has become a highlight attracting a large number of visitors.

Along with the exhibitions, Nhan Dan Newspaper also organized seminars such as: "Aspiration to protect national independence and unity" (August 29), "DNA of the Rising Era: Promoting the value of national cultural heritage, developing cultural industry in the digital age" (September 3), or "Aspiration for a strong Vietnam in the digital age" (September 5)...

These forums are not only a place for academic exchange but also expand the space for reflection on the country's development journey in the new era. According to statistics, from August 28 to September 6, the thematic exhibition area "95 years of the Party Flag lighting the way" welcomed 698,865 visitors and experiences.

On September 6 and 7, the first days of the exhibition's extended period, right on the weekend, people flocked to the exhibition from early morning. Of which, Sunday, September 7, continued to be a peak day. From around 7am, Ly Son Street from the left bank of the Duong River connecting Dong Tru Bridge to Truong Sa Street was soon congested due to the heavy traffic.

Mr. Nguyen Truong An, Hai Duong Ward (Hai Phong City) said: “I wanted to see with my own eyes the development achievements of the country since September 2, but I was afraid that the roads would be too crowded, so I only came to the exhibition today. Surprisingly, people from all over the country are still coming here. Although the roads are congested and it takes a long time to travel, I am very excited to see the exhibition booths with my own eyes. In particular, many exhibition booths use new technologies. I was also guided by the children to experience some technologies, and was also impressed with the exhibition booths of the army and police. These are the forces that protect sovereignty and maintain national security.”

To meet the record number of visitors, the exhibition organizers coordinated with Hanoi City to synchronously deploy many solutions such as organizing 20 bus routes with 68 buses and 850 trips/day to increase the number of visitors to the exhibition, arranging two free internal tram routes, a food court with more than 100 outdoor kiosks and many indoor areas, along with the Digimap digital guidance system, 925 toilets... These thoughtful preparations helped millions of participants have a civilized, safe and comfortable experience.

The exhibition of the country's achievements with the theme "80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" is the exhibition that has attracted the largest number of visitors ever. From a tourism perspective, the exhibition belongs to the MICE tourism group (event tourism). If the promotion campaign is better implemented, the exhibition will not only attract a large number of domestic visitors, but also attract international visitors. However, the prolonged traffic congestion also shows that Hanoi needs to speed up the construction of traffic works connecting the National Exhibition and Fair Center with surrounding roads, and urgently build and adjust appropriate traffic intersections.

However, this shortcoming cannot overwhelm the common joy of the people of the capital as well as the locality when welcoming the influx of tourists. Mr. Le Xuan Anh and his wife (Xuan Trach village, Xuan Canh commune, Hanoi) are the ones who are constantly on duty to provide free motorbike taxis for people having difficulty accessing the exhibition in recent days. Mr. Le Xuan Anh said: “Traffic jams are not fun, but for us, this is an opportunity to show the affection of Dong Anh people to people from other provinces and cities when coming to Hanoi. Therefore, we still try to maintain the free motorbike taxi team to support everyone. At peak times, the free motorbike taxi team has up to 30 people. Serving everyone is a joy for us.”

The success of the event shows that: When history is told in a creative language, touching emotions, it will have a strong attraction, connecting generations and fostering sustainable national pride. The exhibition "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" not only honors the historical journey, promotes outstanding achievements, but also arouses the aspiration to build a prosperous and powerful country. This is a vivid testament to the power of community connection, a journey of memories and the future, where every Vietnamese person finds pride and responsibility to continue writing new pages of history together.
