Previously, on August 5, after receiving news that a monkey had entered a house to look for food and disturbed people's houses in alley 301, Binh Long Street (Binh Hung Hoa Ward), the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department coordinated with local authorities and people in the alley to search for and approach to capture the monkey.

After many hours of coordinated searching, the rangers approached, shot tranquilizers and captured the monkey. The rangers then took the monkey back to care for and raise it according to regulations.

Forest rangers identified this as a pig-tailed macaque, scientific name Macaca leonina , male, weighing about 6.5kg.

Pig-tailed macaques belong to group IIB in the list of endangered, precious and rare species according to Circular 27/2025/TT-BNNMT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment .

A resident living on Street 9 (near Alley 301, Binh Long Street) said that recently a monkey from nowhere appeared in some people's houses looking for food and causing trouble.

"Once, the monkey took the cake and fruit from the altar table and entered the house through the window. When I learned that the monkey had been captured, I felt relieved and hoped that it would be released into a suitable natural environment," this person said.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on August 6, the leader of Binh Hung Hoa Ward People's Committee said that to avoid the monkey affecting people, the ward sent people to a safe place and contacted forest rangers to support and coordinate in capturing the monkey.
