On the evening of September 1, Trang Tien Street and the Hanoi Opera House area suddenly became a brilliant “red sea”. From early morning, thousands of people poured in, creating a space filled with the red color of the yellow star. The atmosphere was like a big festival when everyone sang, cheered, and waited for the moment of the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
The stage was temporarily set up on the sidewalk, with only a simple set of speakers and microphones, but thanks to the performances of the students of the Political Officer School, this place quickly turned into a true "community stage".
Familiar melodies such as "The Country is Full of Joy", "Holding Hands Together", "Like Having Uncle Ho on the Great Victory Day" resounded, drawing people into harmony, turning the entire street corner into a giant choir.
Not only songs that have stood the test of time, audiences also get to listen to youthful, vibrant songs like Mot Vong Viet Nam or Xinh Tuoi Viet Nam.
Despite the sudden downpour, the students still sang, still danced, and thousands of people stayed, standing in the rain, clapping to the beat. All of this created an emotional sleepless night that no one wanted to leave.
“I came here at 10am, bringing a plastic chair to sit on. Looking at the sea of red flags covering the streets, I felt like I was reliving the heroic atmosphere that our ancestors experienced,” one audience member shared.
“We want our children to experience this special atmosphere. It’s not often we get to sing and wave flags among thousands of people like this,” said Minh Hoang, a Hanoi resident.
The special feature of the program is the exchange between the army and the people.
With the background music of "Forgetting oneself for the people" and "Singing forever the military march", the students stepped down and joined the audience, creating a large circle in the middle of the street.
Simple but energetic dance steps made the whole Opera House area explode.
The celebration, parade and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day will be solemnly held at the historic Ba Dinh Square on the morning of September 2.
The program will end with an art performance from 9:45 to 10:00. In addition to the ceremony, Hanoi will also organize fireworks displays on the evening of September 2 at 5 locations: Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake and My Dinh Stadium.
To ensure traffic order and safety, serve the travel needs of the people and activities serving the parade program on the morning of September 2, Hanoi City Police announced the time of road closure and traffic diversion: Starting from 10:00 p.m. on September 1 to 1:00 p.m. on September 2.
