Rice price today July 29: Raw rice price increases slightly

Rice prices today recorded an increase of 100 - 200 VND/kg for some raw rice varieties. The domestic rice market is stable, trading is slow, and export prices have decreased slightly.

Raw rice prices increase slightly, domestic market is stable

In many localities in the Mekong Delta, raw rice prices showed signs of a slight increase this morning. CL 555 raw rice increased by VND 200/kg, to VND 9,000 - 9,100/kg; OM 5451 increased by VND 100/kg, to VND 9,800 - 9,950/kg. Some other types of rice such as OM 380, OM 18, IR 504 still maintained prices in the range of VND 8,000 - 9,700/kg.

However, transactions in localities are still quite quiet. In An Giang, Lap Vo and Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the amount of rice in warehouses is small, the purchase price is stable. In An Cu ( Tien Giang ), buying and selling activities are slow, no price fluctuations are recorded.

In the retail market, rice prices have not changed much compared to the weekend. Nang Nhen rice still holds the highest price of VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai rice is VND22,000/kg; regular rice is at VND13,000 - 14,000/kg. Fragrant rice such as Jasmine, Nang Hoa, white rice and Japanese rice also maintain the old price, ranging from VND16,000 - 22,000/kg.

By-product prices slightly decreased, glutinous rice remained unchanged

Some by-products tend to decrease compared to yesterday. Bran price decreased by 100 VND, currently at 7,000 - 7,100 VND/kg. IR504 fragrant rice bran and rice husk remain at the old price, fluctuating at 7,250 - 7,350 VND/kg and 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg, respectively.

Glutinous rice prices remained unchanged today. Dried IR 4625 glutinous rice fluctuated at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg, fresh glutinous rice remained at 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg.

Fresh rice price remains stable

Rice prices in localities today generally remained stable. Nang Hoa 9 and Dai Thom 8 rice fluctuated at 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 and OM 18 were at 5,900 - 6,200 VND/kg; IR 50404 and OM 380 were around 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg.

In An Giang, Dong Thap, Soc Trang and Hau Giang, new purchase demand is slow, fresh rice transactions are sparse. Farmers mainly offer high prices, while traders buy sparingly.

Rice exports decrease, businesses "complain about difficulties" due to VAT

In the world market, Vietnam's rice export prices have slightly decreased. 5% broken rice decreased by 3 USD/ton to 378 USD/ton; 25% broken rice remained at 357 USD/ton; 100% broken rice was stable at 319 USD/ton. Meanwhile, Thai, Indian and Pakistani rice fluctuated around 377 - 387 USD/ton.

The Vietnam Food Association (VFA) warned that the policy of imposing a 5% VAT from July 1 is causing difficulties for businesses because they have to pay the tax in advance while not yet being refunded, affecting cash flow and competitiveness. VFA proposed that the State exempt VAT on exported rice to support the industry to maintain its position in the international market.
