Gia Lai province has both sunny and windy plateaus and coastal areas with high solar radiation, along with a rich system of rivers, waterfalls and lakes. This is the foundation for the development of diverse types of renewable energy: onshore wind power, offshore wind power, ground and floating solar power, hydropower, biomass power, waste power, geothermal power.

According to the adjusted Power Plan VIII, the total capacity of renewable energy projects in Gia Lai has developed more than 9,600 MW - an impressive figure that affirms the province's position as a clean and sustainable energy center of the region.

To date, the province has 61 hydropower projects with a capacity of 2,736 MW; 17 wind power projects with a capacity of 916 MW; 7 solar power projects with a capacity of 590 MWp; 2 biomass power projects with a capacity of 130 MW that have been put into commercial operation. These projects not only supplement a stable power source for the national system but also create jobs, increase budget revenue, and promote trade and service development.

In particular, Gia Lai considers the development of high-quality human resources as a key factor. On August 20, 2025, the province announced the call for investment in the Renewable Energy Human Resources Training and Development Center project.
