(Dan Tri) - Ranked 4th out of 10 teams participating in the 2024 Davis Cup men's team tennis tournament, group 3, Asia - Oceania region, the Vietnamese men's tennis team officially won the right to stay in the rankings.

In this match, Nguyen Van Phuong helped the Vietnamese tennis team take a 1-0 lead, after defeating Syria's Alazmeh Taym 2-0 (7-6, 6-2). However, the Vietnamese men's tennis team still lost in the end. This was not a surprising result, because the Vietnamese team participating in this year's Davis Cup is mainly composed of quite young players. Vietnam's number one male tennis player, Ly Hoang Nam, did not participate in the tournament.

The fact that the Vietnamese team stayed in the rankings was also considered a significant success for players such as Nguyen Van Phuong, Nguyen Van Phuong, Vu Ha Minh Duc, Pham La Hoang Anh, Truong Vinh Hien and Dinh Viet Tuan Minh. Three teams from the Asia - Oceania region won the right to participate in the play-off round to promote from group 3 to group 2, including Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Syria. With a record of 4th place out of 10 participating teams, the Vietnamese men's tennis team is the team right after the positions that have won the right to participate in this play-off round.
