Chu Dang Ya is not just a mountain. It is a volcano that has been dormant for millions of years, located in Chu Dang Ya commune, Chu Pah district, Gia Lai province, about 30km from Pleiku city center . When autumn comes, the landscape here seems to be "awakened" by clouds across the mountainside and a carpet of golden wild sunflowers covering the path.
The name Chu Dang Ya in Jrai means “wild ginger”, a rustic but powerful image, just like this place – simple, pristine but full of life. It is even more special when this mountain has a giant funnel shape, nearly 700 meters wide and nearly 100 meters deep, creating a giant basin where clouds can “sleep” in every autumn morning.

The mountain top is not always covered in clouds. Only when autumn comes, the weather turns cool, the humidity is high and the climate is clear, creating conditions for clouds to gather in the crater. Days with night fog or light rain are the “key” to capturing the moment when clouds drift lazily over the mountain mouth.
Usually, the clouds are thickest from 5am to 6:30am. When the sun rises high, the sunlight penetrates each layer of cloud, reflecting on the wild sunflowers in full bloom, creating a scene that is both poetic and intense. Each ray of light seems to add more vividness to the picture of the great forest.
