The situation of human trafficking crimes in recent times continues to be complicated, with increasingly sophisticated and diverse methods and tricks of crime. According to research by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), women and girls account for 42% and 18% of the total number of victims of trafficking and exploitation, mostly for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

 

According to the report of the Ministry of Public Security , in the first quarter of 2025, the authorities discovered and investigated 59 cases of human trafficking, human trafficking under 16 years old, 186 subjects related to human trafficking and 244 victims; of which, the number of female victims accounted for 64.75%, victims under 16 years old accounted for 45%, over 18 years old accounted for 41%, and victims were infants accounted for 24.5%.

Quang Binh province has a special geographical location, located in the North Central region, bordering Laos and having a border of more than 200km with many international border gates and crossings. This is a favorable condition for trade but at the same time, it has many potential risks of cross-border crimes, including human trafficking.

Delegates and speakers discussed issues related to the community's joint efforts in preventing and combating human trafficking, ensuring the rights of migrants.

The forum is the opening activity in a series of practical activities in response to the World Day against Trafficking and the National Day against Trafficking on July 30, 2025 with the theme "Trafficking is an organized crime - Stop the exploitation!", contributing to concretizing the commitments of the Vietnamese Government in the fight against Trafficking.
