Son Heung-min officially joins Los Angeles FC for record price
Los Angeles FC's homepage has officially announced the completion of the deal to recruit striker Son Heung-min from Tottenham. The Korean star has passed the medical examination and signed a contract until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for another 2 years.
According to ESPN, to get Son's services, Los Angeles FC had to pay Tottenham $26 million, breaking the MLS transfer record. Previously, the old record belonged to Atlanta United's deal to recruit Emmanuel Latte Lath last winter for $22 million.
Meanwhile, Givemesport revealed that LA FC also favored Son by offering him the second highest salary in MLS, around 8.7 million USD per season. Although the above figure is still lower than Son's income at Tottenham (more than 11 million USD/year), this is still a "huge" figure in the US football field.
At LA FC, Son will reunite with his former Tottenham teammate, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The two had a disagreement that nearly led to a brawl on the pitch during a Premier League match against Everton in July 2020.
Liverpool reach agreement to sell Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabia giants
According to ESPN, Liverpool have reached an agreement to sell striker Darwin Nunez to Al Hilal for 53 million euros, excluding additional fees. The Uruguayan star is expected to sign a 3-year contract and receive a salary of up to 460,000 euros per week, equivalent to 22 million euros/season.
With Al Hilal currently training in Germany, Nunez is expected to arrive at the Saudi giants' base to complete his medical. The 26-year-old has been holding off on making a decision on his future all summer, waiting for the chance to continue playing in Europe, in the context of needing to be in good form before the 2026 World Cup.
However, in the end, only Napoli officially showed interest but failed to meet Liverpool's desired price. At the time the season was about to start, Nunez gave the green light to move to the Saudi Pro League.
Man United inquire about buying Baleba
Not long after reaching an agreement to sign striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, Man United continued their plans to strengthen their squad by joining the race for Carlos Baleba's signature. Currently, the young star born in 2004 is valued at 40 million euros by Transfermarkt.
However, this promises to be no easy deal for the Red Devils. Brighton are determined not to let go of the 21-year-old midfielder. CEO Paul Barber himself spoke up to confirm that Baleba is part of the club's long-term personnel strategy and is not a player that can be sold.
Of course, the Seagulls' tough stance will only change if they receive a reasonable offer, which could be close to three figures. Baleba's current contract with the Amex team still has three years left.
Chelsea has cleared 3 players
In parallel with the plan to recruit more quality personnel, Chelsea is also aggressively liquidating faces that are no longer in coach Enzo Maresca's plans. Recently, The Blues announced that they had sold Lesley Ugochukwu to Burnley. In return, the London giants received a transfer fee of 23 million euros, equivalent to the amount they paid to Rennes 2 years ago.
Another Stamford Bridge player is also getting closer to joining Burnley. That is the case of Armando Broja. The 23-year-old striker is expected to arrive at Turf Moor soon to undergo a medical before joining the Premier League newcomer for a fee of around 30 million euros.
In another development, Chelsea have also agreed to loan Marc Guiu to Sunderland for a season. The 19-year-old talent joined the Blues in the summer of 2024 from Barcelona and was given regular playing opportunities in the Conference League, before suffering a serious injury that forced him to miss most of the second half of the season.
Aston Villa medical check for €35m striker
According to Sky Sports, Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign Evann Guessand from Nice for a fee of 35 million euros. The 24-year-old striker is expected to arrive in the Midlands soon to undergo a medical, before completing the procedures to arrive at Villa Park.
Last season, Guessand played 32 matches for Nice in Ligue 1 and scored 12 goals. Although born in France and a regular in the French youth teams, Guessand decided to play for the Ivory Coast national team.
Everton want to borrow Grealish
According to the Telegraph, Everton have made an offer to take Jack Grealish on loan but without an option to buy at the end of the season. Liverpool will also only pay a portion of the 29-year-old midfielder's huge salary at the Etihad Stadium (around 340,000 euros per week).
Currently, Man City has not yet given an official answer. But according to Sky Sports, Man Xanh still prioritizes selling the English star because the contract between the two sides currently only has 2 years left. Since last season, Grealish is no longer in coach Pep Guardiola's long-term personnel plan.
In addition to Everton, Tottenham, Fenerbahce and Napoli are also keen on the services of the former Aston Villa star.
