National Walk "Moving Forward with Vietnam"

(NLDO) - For the first time, a walking activity was held simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities with 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide.

On the afternoon of August 11 in Hanoi, Nhan Dan Newspaper coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to hold a press conference to announce the national walking activity "Moving Forward with Vietnam" to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Tradition Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).

Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh said that the program "Moving Forward with Vietnam" has created an unprecedented activity, for a healthy Vietnam and for a green Vietnam.

Speaking at the press conference, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh said: Nhan Dan Newspaper, with the mission and responsibility of a leading press agency of the country, has proactively and actively disseminated information effectively propagating the Party and State's guidelines and policies, is a forum for the people, and is increasingly reaching a wide public.

The coordination between Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Ministry of Public Security to organize the program "Advancing with Vietnam" has created an unprecedented activity, for a healthy Vietnam and for a green Vietnam, so it has received support and positive response from all levels, sectors and people" - Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh emphasized.

The program's initial target was to attract about 150,000-200,000 participants, recording 1 billion steps in just one hour. Up to this point, on the online registration portal, in just one week, the number of steps has reached more than 150 million, equal to 1/7 of the set target. Many units and tens of thousands of union members and youth across the country have also responded enthusiastically.

Speaking at the press conference, Major General Le Hong Hiep, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Work (Ministry of Public Security), said that the event "Moving Forward with Vietnam" is not just a simple community physical activity, but a collective action rich in political and social significance, demonstrating the determination of the entire nation to overcome difficulties together, maintain health, and strengthen solidarity towards the goal of sustainable development and strong integration in the new era.

As soon as the plan was made, the Minister of Public Security directed units under the Ministry of Public Security and police in localities nationwide to simultaneously launch preparations, coordinate organization and participate in activities.

In particular, the provincial and municipal police forces are the leading units coordinating with the permanent offices of Nhan Dan Newspaper to advise local Party committees and authorities to simultaneously launch the campaign in 34 provinces and cities and 3,321 communes, wards and special zones nationwide. Notably, the Public Security sector will not only carry out propaganda and mobilization but will also participate in the walk.

With the participation of thousands of commune-level cadres and soldiers coming to the province with the spirit of one billion steps per hour for a healthy, united and progressive Vietnam, the activity "Moving Forward with Vietnam" is one of the specific and practical activities to build a healthy environment, improve physical and mental health in propagating the law to the people; building a movement for the whole people to protect security and protect the Fatherland, contributing to affirming to international friends about a united, progressive and responsible Vietnam in the international community" - Major General Le Hong Hiep expressed.

"Moving Forward with Vietnam" is a community activity of unprecedented scale and significance, taking place at a special moment when the whole country is entering a new development phase along with the rearrangement of administrative units. For the first time, a walking activity was held simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities with 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide.

From July 25 to August 16, people nationwide can register online on the official electronic portal: cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn and start recording their steps to contribute to the journey with the message "1 billion steps towards a new era" - a practical activity demonstrating patriotism, reducing carbon emissions and moving towards the country's Net Zero goal.

In particular, from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. on August 16, program participants nationwide will wear red shirts with yellow stars, turn to the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag-raising ceremony, sing the national anthem, and march together for a united, strong, and sustainable Vietnam.
