On September 9, Can Tho University (CTU) in collaboration with CT Group organized a scientific workshop "National digital twin - technological breakthrough for smart agriculture in the Mekong Delta".
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Rector of Can Tho University, spoke at the conference.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, President of Can Tho University, said that the Mekong Delta is a large agricultural and aquatic production region but is currently facing many challenges such as climate change, and the traditional agricultural production model has revealed some limitations.
Therefore, developing smart agriculture is not only an inevitable trend but also a strategic solution to ensure a safe and sustainable food supply, effectively adapt to climate change, and enhance international competitiveness.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Vang - Principal of the College of Agriculture, Can Tho University - said that information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are mandatory technologies in smart agricultural production. Without information technology, it will be difficult to effectively implement smart agriculture.
"Smart agriculture increases production efficiency, reduces labor force, and adapts well to climate change. However, this model requires highly skilled labor, is not suitable for small-scale production conditions; investment costs are very high, so it requires the participation of the State or enterprises" - Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Vang emphasized.
Delegates attending the workshop
Mr. Tran Kim Chung, Chairman of CT Group, informed that the group has developed the "15-layer National Digital Twin" (NDT15) technology. NDT15 includes 250 features for all industries, helping to monitor, give early warnings and manage risks; simulate and forecast, build scenarios for urban, industrial, agricultural and ecological development; integrate and standardize data...
Mr. Tran Kim Chung, Chairman of CT Group, talks about NDT15 technology developed by the group.
NDT15 has 36 applications in smart agriculture. Typical applications include AI, UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), IoT (internet of things) and satellite images to monitor crops, plant health, optimize irrigation and fertilizer. At the same time, provide cross-sectoral data for land planning, water management and ensuring sustainable food security.
Representatives of Can Tho University and CT Group signed the project to develop a UAV Center combining intelligent robots and a UAV Pilot Training School.
At the workshop, Can Tho University and CT Group signed an agreement to develop projects such as: UAV Center project combining agricultural robots and UAV pilot training school; cooperation in training on advanced packaging in the semiconductor industry; cooperation in developing carbon credits for the Mekong Delta; developing high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation using AI technology...
