Brain tumors are of two types: benign and malignant. Benign tumors are abnormal growths of brain cells but are not cancerous. Meanwhile, malignant tumors are cancerous and can spread cancer cells throughout the body through the blood vessels and lymphatic system, according to the health website Medical News Today (UK).

If the headache is severe and persistent, the patient should see a doctor immediately because it could be a symptom of a brain tumor.

Tumors grow silently in the brain and may take years to show obvious symptoms. At that point, the patient goes for a check-up and learns that he or she has a brain tumor. In many cases, the cancer has progressed, making treatment extremely difficult.

One of the reasons for the delay in diagnosis is that the symptoms of brain tumors can easily be confused with other diseases. These symptoms include headaches, feeling uncomfortable in the head, difficulty sleeping, difficulty concentrating, problems with writing, speaking or remembering. In addition, some people show signs of losing interest in daily activities and being less connected to the world around them.

Not only that, when the brain tumor begins to grow large, it will compress areas in the brain, leading to typical symptoms of the disease such as nausea, vomiting, severe and persistent headaches, usually in the morning. In addition, the patient also has blurred vision, often sleepy, convulsions, changes in behavior and personality.

Brain tumors can also cause neurological problems such as vision loss or paralysis on one side of the body. If the tumor increases intracranial pressure, it can block the flow of cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord, leading to dangerous complications.

The symptoms of brain tumors are quite diverse. Many of them, such as nausea, vomiting, and blurred vision, are easily confused with common health problems. Depending on the location, size, and degree of compression of the nerves by the tumor, the patient will have different typical symptoms.

However, if the patient has a persistent headache or experiences nausea and vomiting for a long time, they should see a doctor immediately. Whatever the cause of the illness, it needs to be diagnosed and treated, according to Medical News Today .
