National Day September 2 is expected to be a boost for the retail market. |
Stimulate consumption
The 4-day holiday is an opportunity for supermarket chains, shopping malls, convenience stores, etc. to attract a large number of customers. Grasping this need, many units have launched a series of attractive promotional programs such as discounts up to 50%, free products, buy 1 get 1 free, vouchers, cashback, etc. Some retailers also organize "sale hunting" by time frame to stimulate shopping.
At Co.opmart Vinh Long Supermarket, the shopping atmosphere has been bustling for many days. The display area is brightly decorated with red flags with yellow stars, fresh flowers and welcome banners. From August 28 to September 17, the Co.opmart Supermarket system has a program "Proud of Vietnamese Supermarket" to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, with discounts of up to 50% on many product lines, 8% cashback, buy the second item and save 100,000 VND and a series of attractive gifts.
Mr. Van Quoc Hoang - Director of Co.opmart Vinh Long Supermarket said: "To meet shopping needs during the holiday, the supermarket proactively imports goods early, ensuring adequate reserves, especially for essential goods and fresh food. In addition, the supermarket has launched a promotion program for more than 2,000 items with discounts from 5-50% to help customers shop more economically. We predict that purchasing power during the holiday will increase by about 5-10% compared to the same period last year, hoping that this will be a boom time for the retail industry. At the same time, quality control, labeling and product origin are also strictly implemented so that customers can rest assured when choosing."
Mr. Tuan Kiet (Hieu Thanh commune) said: “My family has planned to buy food early to avoid crowds, and at the same time take advantage of promotional programs both directly and online to save costs. I also prioritize choosing clean food and healthy drinks during this holiday season.”
Strengthen control and ensure product quality
Traditional markets also proactively stockpile goods to ensure price stability. According to Mr. Tran Dai Phat - Deputy Head of Vinh Long Market Management Board: "Currently, the source of fresh food, vegetables, fruits, and necessities at the market is quite abundant, prices are relatively stable, except for some types of vegetables, fruits, and seafood that have increased slightly.
It is expected that shopping demand will increase by 20-30% during the holiday. The management board has assigned personnel to coordinate with functional forces to ensure security and order, fire prevention, maintain the beauty of the market and smooth circulation of goods. At the same time, it encourages traders to prepare goods, list prices and sell at the listed prices, to avoid unusual price increases.
Vinh Long Market Management Board also increased the deployment of forces to regularly monitor prices and goods flow, reminding traders to post prices and sell at the right price, not to speculate or hoard goods. Strengthening the inspection of food safety, price posting, environmental sanitation, and fire prevention.
Ms. Pham Thi Thuy - Representative of Tan Hanh Market Management Board (Tan Hanh Ward), said: "The number of customers shopping at the market is expected to increase by more than 10%, the demand is mainly for fresh food for festivals and meetings.
The management board has announced the holiday schedule so that traders can proactively import goods, and at the same time coordinate with functional agencies to check food safety, origin of goods, list prices and sell at the correct listed prices.
The provincial Market Management Department will regularly inspect and handle violations such as smuggling, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, poor quality goods and commercial fraud.
In particular, focus on checking the quality of promotional goods, recommending that consumers only buy at reputable points of sale, and request invoices to protect their rights.
Regarding petroleum products, Market Management Team No. 7 is monitoring 77 stores in 13 communes and wards, focusing on checking stores with valid business licenses, fully complying with business conditions such as location, tanks, fire protection systems, measuring equipment; selling on time, not hoarding goods or illegally stopping sales; posting and selling at the correct price; ensuring product quality, technical safety, environmental hygiene, and maintaining the required circulation reserve level according to regulations.
The Department of Industry and Trade has directed localities to closely monitor supply and demand, price developments, and strengthen market stabilization inspections, especially with units participating in the price stabilization program.
At the same time, businesses, supermarkets and stores are encouraged to prepare adequate sources of goods, focusing on quality, clear origin, food hygiene and safety, and arranging displays appropriately to create a civilized and modern shopping space.
The National Day on September 2 promises many attractive promotions, but consumers should carefully check the conditions of application, program duration, return policy and number of promotions, and compare prices before and after the promotion to avoid "fake discounts". Choose to shop at reputable addresses to ensure quality and your rights.
