On the afternoon of June 10, according to information obtained by Tien Phong reporters, the Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy has just passed a Resolution to establish three independent training units under the general management of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and will come into operation from June 6, 2025. Each unit has its own principal and separate organizational structure.

Specifically, the School of Medicine was established on the basis of restructuring the Faculty of Medicine. The School of Medicine operates with a management apparatus including the principal, vice principal, scientific and training council; departments such as Administration, Science-Training-Foreign Affairs, Quality Assurance and Examination, and 30 subject units and centers such as Family Medicine and Advanced Clinical Simulation Training.
The School of Pharmacy was established on the basis of reorganizing the Faculty of Pharmacy. The School of Pharmacy established a leadership and organizational system similar to the School of Medicine, including a principal, vice principal, council, functional departments and 12 specialized departments.
The School of Nursing and Medical Technology was established by combining the Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Medical Technology. The School of Nursing and Medical Technology operates under an organizational model consisting of a principal and associates, a council, functional departments, and owns 8 departments and a specialized Skills Training Center.
After establishing the three above-mentioned units, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy still maintains four faculties including Dentistry, Public Health , Traditional Medicine and Basic Sciences. In addition, the university also operates the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital with three facilities; 11 functional departments and 7 research and training centers and 4 other affiliated units.

The current Chairman of the University Council is Prof. Dr. Tran Diep Tuan (Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Health's grassroots level, Secretary of the University Party Committee). The Board of Directors includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Quoc Dat - Principal, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Chinh as Vice Principals. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac is the Director of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City.
