After merging the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong, Da Lat affirmed its role as an international administrative and resort tourism center with a creative and sustainable development strategy.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, affirmed the important role of building a green resort ecosystem in Da Lat.

According to him, Da Lat is not only a beautiful resort destination but is also becoming a new destination in the world to meet the needs of the elite. Mr. Hoai emphasized: "It is not a choice but a necessity".

New position of Dalat

After merging the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong, the "new" Lam Dong province was established with Da Lat chosen as the provincial administrative center. This is an important turning point, opening up great opportunities for Da Lat to develop strongly, aiming to become a tourist city - a national heritage of international stature.

Lam Dong province has the largest natural area in the country with more than 24,000 km², along with outstanding agricultural land fund. This is an important basis for Da Lat to diversify tourism products, create attractive service chains, unique characteristics, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.

MSc. Kieu Cong Thuoc from Vietnam Innovation and Startup Fund Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (VNFUND) emphasized that Da Lat is strongly shifting from "landscape tourism" to "experiential, healing, creative and digital tourism".

Accordingly, many innovative projects such as "Cultural - Tourism Creative Valley" and "Tourism - Service Innovation Center (iLab Tourism)" have been proposed to diversify tourism products and increase the rate of returning visitors.

In the post-COVID-19 and global climate change context, traveler needs are undergoing profound changes. Today’s travelers are not only looking for simple experiences but also desire deep, lasting connections with themselves.

Therefore, resort models that emphasize personalization such as at Haus Da Lat, or the eco-resort at Tuyen Lam Lake, creative resorts in the suburbs of Da Lat, and smart eco-homestay systems in Bao Loc and Da Teh are being actively researched and implemented by businesses.

Da Lat is also supported by policies to attract innovative investment. The establishment of a provincial-level green tourism and resort investment fund and the participation of private enterprises and domestic and foreign venture funds will help speed up the progress of strategic projects, clearly shaping the future appearance of the Da Lat urban area.

This will help protect the landscape values, cultural and historical heritage of Da Lat, creating favorable conditions for creating modern living spaces but still imbued with their own identity.

In particular, the upgrading of transport infrastructure, including expressways such as Dau Giay - Lien Khuong, which will help connect Da Lat - Ho Chi Minh City in just 3 hours; Gia Nghia - Phan Thiet, Nha Trang - Da Lat expressways, along with Lien Khuong international airport and Phan Thiet airport, will help Da Lat quickly connect with major economic centers, famous coastal tourist destinations such as Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Phu Quy island and global geoparks such as Ta Dung. This will be a strong driving force to promote Da Lat to become an international tourist center.

According to Mr. Tran Duc Loc, Da Lat will strongly develop integrated tourism products, creating a connecting space according to the triangle "Phan Thiet - Da Lat - Ta Dung". In particular, the tourism brand "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land" will continue to be built and strongly promoted, targeting potential international markets such as Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe and North America.

Along with that, the "new" Lam Dong province also aims to become the "Green Paradise" of Vietnam and Southeast Asia by 2030 with an international-class tourism infrastructure system, comprehensively developing in scope, scale and service quality.

Da Lat will play a leading role, becoming the center of international cultural, sports and culinary activities, helping to enhance the image and position of the province on the world tourism map.
