After each hour of intense training, with sweat soaking their backs, the officers and soldiers of Battalion 3, Regiment 1, Division 324 (Military Region 4) would look for a cup of green tea warmed in a sturdy wooden rack placed in front of each platoon's porch, with cool green tea inside.

Rumine tea is covered, retains heat well, and is placed in a sturdy wooden frame like a familiar corner of the army. Just pour out a small stainless steel cup, take the first sip, the astringent taste on the tip of the tongue seems to awaken the whole body. After finishing the cup, sweat, heat, and fatigue also disappear. Those simple cups of green tea not only quench thirst but also bring soldiers a feeling of relaxation and peace as if they were returning to their home porch.

Sergeant Cao Van Long, Squad Leader of Squad 3, Platoon 1, Company 9, shared: “Green tea has an astringent taste, but it is that astringency that quenches thirst and makes us feel more refreshed. After each hour of hard training, a cup of green tea gives us more energy and makes us feel excited to move on to the next content.”

Not only does it help dispel fatigue, a cup of green tea also helps strengthen the bond between comrades and teammates. During holidays and breaks, officers and soldiers often sit together, pour cups of tea, and chat animatedly. Stories from family, hometown, and then concerns in training, work... just keep going. And from those simple moments, people understand each other better, become closer, and more intimate.

According to Major Trinh Van Nam, Battalion Commander of Battalion 3: “The unit’s officers and soldiers come from 5 provinces and cities: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh , Quang Tri and Hue City. Almost everyone is familiar with green tea from their hometown. The place where they are stationed has suitable soil conditions, so the unit has set aside some land to grow tea. The tea is grown by the soldiers themselves, absolutely without the use of pesticides or chemicals, very safe and nutritious.”

The green tea beds planted and fertilized by the soldiers themselves have become a source of natural, pure drinks. Drinking a cup of tea from the tea leaves they have grown, each officer and soldier feels more attached to the land they are stationed on, more responsible in each daily task. A cup of green tea therefore not only has a rustic, pure flavor but also contains the feelings, efforts and pride of the soldiers.

Along with growing tea, officers and soldiers of Battalion 3 also actively increased production, self-sufficient in food and provisions. Thanks to that, the soldiers' meals became increasingly rich, ensuring nutrition. And a cup of green tea warmed in rumine has become a highlight in their daily spiritual life. Since then, the soldiers' health and spirit have been improved, contributing to the successful completion of all assigned tasks.
