Online scrap market promotes waste sorting at source

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of August 23, the Project "Hue - Plastic-reducing City in Central Vietnam" (TVA Project), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) and the mGreen Initiative, launched the Technology System for Managing the Recycled Waste Supply Chain.

The technology system for managing the recyclable waste supply chain (abbreviated as the online scrap market - mGreen) includes two mobile apps "Buy mGreen waste" and "Sell mGreen waste", which not only connects the needs for buying and selling recyclable waste (scrap) but also promotes waste classification at the source.

With this system, scrap, packaging, and discarded products will be brought to recycling plants that meet standards. From there, the entities in the supply chain of recycled waste in general and plastic waste in particular will have the basis to benefit from financial contributions from manufacturers and importers to classify, collect, and recycle packaging and products.

The launching ceremony was attended by 30 scrap yards, 3 technology scrap cooperatives in Hue City and 2 large-scale plastic recycling companies: Vinatic Hai Phong Co., Ltd. in Hai Phong City and Minh Hieu Saigon Co., Ltd. with a factory located in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the ceremony, scrap yards, traders, recycling factories, and technology scrap teams were trained on how to participate and use the system and were informed about the features of the online scrap market such as: Ordering recyclable waste, creating scrap sales orders, payment methods, connecting partners and customers, and managing transactions on mobile applications.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Hoang Ngoc Tuong Van, TVA Project Manager, said: The launch of the mGreen online scrap market is not only a technology platform, but also an innovative solution to connect links in the recycling value chain - from sorting, collecting, buying and selling to recycling waste, especially plastic waste.

It is known that the TVA Project, funded by WWF-Norway through the World Wildlife Fund in Vietnam (WWF-Vietnam) and received by the Hue City People's Committee, aims to support the city in protecting rivers and ecosystems of wetlands and coastal areas from being polluted by plastic waste.
